Daylight savings is what screwed Frank up. Eastern is GMT-5 when daylight savings isn't in effect, but since it's still daylight savings, we're GMT-4 at the moment.

Yah but you guys didnt manually change it... all our board setting are the same...

-5 GMT and DST auto detect on...

Just saying if i lose this bid... it would suck.

I have mine set for Central Time, and the time stamp is 11:05 PM Central Time, which is 12:05 PM Eastern (FWIW).

Well Brian seems like you're way off haha... so what time do you use to manage your posts? YOu assume it's Eastern Time zone although you have your set to Central?


My contention is that I have my board time set to EST -5 GMT and DST auto detect on... like Mike and I assume Noah. However, do to a bug in the message board system mine is an hour behind. Bceause of the message board error I would like to close the Bukhalter auction... since no one did bid on him in 24 hours and if I knew that I was an hour behind I wouldve bid 6 minutes earlier or an hour earlier.

I mean my baord settings are exactly the same as Mike's... GMT -5 w/ DST auto detect. So I techincally am under board time.

Mine is set for Central Time -6 GMT so the times listed are my local times. I'd rather see my local time for the post and do the conversion to eastern time, than to see the Eastern Time post and convert to Cetral, I'm not sure why.

Regardless, the message was posted at 11:05 PM Central Time, which is 12:05 AM Eastern time according to my settings.

The buckahlet auctiuon is not going to close because you THOUGHT it was still friday, or else you MIGHT have bid an hour earlier.

The auctions is STILL open, and the whining over it makes me want to place a bid!

I'm just stating fact... the auctions are based on BOARD TIME, which so happens to be based on the Eastern Time Zone.

The thing is... my board settings are on Eastern Time Zone exactly the same as yours.... GMT -5 and DST auto detect on. So thus my board time, is just as correct as yours. IT's a flaw in in the message board not me.

I think this is a feature of the the way DST autodetect works.

I believe the board looks at your computer to see if the DST flag is set. Since flax does not use DST out west it screws up the time.

You're not seriously going to try and argue that your bid was placed at 11:05pm ET are you?

The board's time is based on GMT. What users set or see in their CP is whatever time they want, but when a post is made, the same standrad time is used,it's just converted to whatever time you have on display.

As for board time and the bid... THE RULES SAY EASTERN TIME, not board time. It's pretty clear cut.

FTR, if the silliness proceeds, my next post in this debate will be a bid.

where od the rules say eastern?I just checked and all the mention is actually a 24 hour period... only mention of Eastern as far as free agency is when free agency begins.

Eastern is never stated in the 24 hour time time period... only says time stamped.

i belileve there is a disclaimer that says that if not specified assume eastern

1D. League Time All times referred to within this document are Eastern Time (ET), even if not marked explicitly as such. Remember this when considering deadlines, etc.
