2007 Frenzy RFA Commentary
Just a place to keep our discussion on the current bidding.
I'll start off with a big WOW to the Freedom's aggressive pursuit of LT. You've already likely priced me out of the market! Impressive Matt. Good luck with the bid. |
Re: 2007 Frenzy RFA Commentary
Well so far it is the only bid. Almost like everyone is on the SAC'd schedule. Oh, well I am guessing it will pick up at some point.

Re: 2007 Frenzy RFA Commentary
Well 13 of the 32 players tendered were WR's. Also, over half of the tender offers appear to be for first rounders. Should be an interesting time since most teams seem to have $ to spend.
|
Re: 2007 Frenzy RFA Commentary
WOW is right, that's 1/3 of his cap!!!!!
|
Re: 2007 Frenzy RFA Commentary
LT has proven he's worth that. Also keep in mind Frank paid him 3450 last year.
I'll wager we need to go higher to keep Frank from matching. |
Re: 2007 Frenzy RFA Commentary
Two players in play! Woo hoo!
This is the excitement I've been looking forward to for months! :dammit |

Re: 2007 Frenzy RFA Commentary
Whew! Popes jumps in the frey with a rock solid bid on Antonio. Love the bid. Wish I could partake in moving him higher. My favorite TE in the NFL.

Re: 2007 Frenzy RFA Commentary
Yeah, I decided it was time to get in on the fun. I've been checking the site all day. This is rather addicting!
Preds, so you gonna bid on both the guys I still own and the guys I want??? Some welcome... ;) |

Where are all the bids? |
Re: 2007 Frenzy RFA Commentary
No kidding. Wake me in the 2nd round of the draft I guess.

Everyone must be on a wait and see status...

Re: 2007 Frenzy RFA Commentary
If people are waiting for the draft, then I'm definitely voting against moving the RFA period back permanently. This is usually the most exciting part of the year, and now there's nothing going on.
|
Re: 2007 Frenzy RFA Commentary
I think I said at the time that shifting the RFA would change the dynamic. I think it has to happen either well before the draft or do the whole off season after it.

Re: 2007 Frenzy RFA Commentary
Watching from the sidelines here. I don't see how which rookie you might be interested in will affect whether or not to go after proven veterans? Unless it's purely a money thing, and you want to gauge how much $ you'll spend on rookies? But how many rookies are actually put on active rosters the first year. I can only think of 2 who might go to active right away, plus maybe one or two more depending on circumstances of team drafting them. Maybe you're all just waiting to see what we do in SAC'd!!
:burt: out... |
Re: 2007 Frenzy RFA Commentary
Yeah, I think there's really only two or three teams who could legitimately have a wait and see attitude due to the draft. I'm one of them and I'm not considering it. More bids coming today...

Preds
Depends on your situation, as you have picks at 4 and 5 in the draft I wouldn't expect that the RFA would have much of an impact, You are loaded in most positions. My guess, given that you have 3 good to great young QBs that you are going to avoid Russell and Quinn. You will pick what you believe the two best RBs not named Peterson and Lynch who are likely gone by then. You will have the luxury of sticking them on the Taxi squad and seeing if one of them develops. Thats a great situation, I on the other hand probably need my rookie to play (fair enough given my draft postion) but don't you think tha the choice between RB and WR at the top of the draft isn't at least influenced by RFA availbility and vice versa |

Maybe poor planning on my end, or conversly, perhaps smart planning, as I'm not wagering my plans on the outcome of the rookie draft. |

Re: 2007 Frenzy RFA Commentary
Brian made a good point to me that I hadn't considered. Not only are the people with high picks maybe eyeing the draft, some people with starters may be, as well.
For example, someone with Chester Taylor may be watching the Vikings draft to see if they pick a top RB or not. That could impact how solidly they feel about their current RB and whether or not they need to go get one in RFA. |

Re: 2007 Frenzy RFA Commentary
Are you saying you'd be starting Quinn over Brady, Peterson over Alexander, or Johnson over Driver? I haven't looked at your roster, but come on.....[/quote]Maybe not but I might not spend 3500 on LDT and then draft Peterson with the 1.01, maybe Johnson looks like better value

Like you say, unfortunately I have so many holes, I won't b able to fill them all, in any case I think I'm the only guy that has bid so far today
|
Re: 2007 Frenzy RFA Commentary
Hold the phones on that claim. I just tossed out the top WR.

Re: 2007 Frenzy RFA Commentary
FYI Popes, a quick lesson on RFA bidding, keep in mind the team tendering the guy has a right to match any winning bid, so low balling a bid (or putting a player out at the tender as you did with Holt) isn't necessarily the strategy. In most cases, teams are more than willing to match tender level bids.
To win a RFA, you generally have to overpay, or put a guy in a tight cap situation with the match. |
Re: 2007 Frenzy RFA Commentary
Mike, quick reminder, only one WR last year received a bid above 1800, and that was Holt at 1850 (though, I am surprised in hindsight at that low number).
Suffice it to say, I have spoken plenty in depth with the Papacy about RFA bidding, as well as not paying a single iota of attention to whatever you may have to say during this time of year. ;) |

LOL, Popes opens at the tender again!
Spite I say. Spite! PS Brian, you are 100% correct in ignoring what I say this time of year, I spew drivel from all directions. ;) |

Re: 2007 Frenzy RFA Commentary
It's like a morgue in here today.
I'm hoping things pick up once the trio of RBs expire this afternoon. |
Re: 2007 Frenzy RFA Commentary
Hey, only 20 minutes are so until the first one is up. That should be about the next time you check back, huh?

Re: 2007 Frenzy RFA Commentary
BTW, are you poor souls REALLY going to let Alexander sell for only 2900? Seriously?
You're actually making me consider matching at that price point (ie. I was considering letting him walk, but not for 2900). |
