Yep, been saying it since the day he retired. It never made any sense to me why he'd quit under those circumstances (struggle through all those sucky years, then quit as soon as they get a good, young team that can compete for the championship). He'll be back...

Giddyup! I'm quite happy about this. He'll be starting somewhere and I think this will be a steal. If it all crumbles, that's fine. I'm out $60. I love the risk/reward ratio on this one.

While I would have preferred MN or TB, the Jets is not a bad place for him to land. With all the upgrades they made this off-season, they should be a good team and he may well put up Top 5 #s again.

I was already a bit of a Jets fans (Curtis Martin is my favorite RB), so now I guess I'm more of one!

I wish I could have held onto Coles now :(

For the record, I think the Packers (who are my second favorite team) are complete idiots for trading him. They had a legit shot to win the Super Bowl this year with Favre. With Rodgers, there's little chance. Rodgers would have to be a Top 5 QB for them to win it, which is extremely unlikely in his first year starting. Whereas we know Favre is one. In a league when windows of opportunity to win it all close very quickly, they just passed on their opportunity.

I have to give you credit. 300cbs for Favre is a good price now. Hopefully he'll get the ball to Cotchery now on a more consistent basis than either of the scrub QBs that were going to be playing this year.

Just stumbled upon a Packers connection for Favre with the Jets. I haven't seen this noted in the media coverage anywhere.

Jets WR David Clowney (4 catches for 163 yards and 2 TDs yesterday) was the Packers 2007 5th round draft pick (as well as being the Preds 4.05 pick). He didn't make the squad and spent parts of 2007 with the Jets.

I think the bigger connection will be TE Bubba Franks, playing for the J-E-T-S-JETS!JETS!JETS! I heard someone saying yesterday that at the preseason game, Franks was on the sideline next to Favre "interpreting" the conversation between he and the other QBs. Brett would ask about routes, coverage, etc. and Franks would interpret the answers into "Packerese" for him! That should help his learning curve greatly.

But Clowney had a great showing, I'll give you that!

Nice! I didn't even realize Franks had gone to the Jets. I'd really like to see the Jets succeed, to stick it to Packers management. This should be a very interesting football year!

Farve will be ok, but I wouldn't expect Top 5 numbers from him. He was a terrible QB the past two years before his "good bye tour" and I'd expect Farve to be closer to the terrible QB he was the past two years then the Top 5 QB he was last year.

As far as talent the WRs in GB and NY are fairly similiar and the running games as well.
