Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
Compensatory picks have been added to official draft order...please review and verify
|
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
Hunters are correct.
|
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
Looks good for Clowns
|
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
Hell Mutts are correct
|
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
I'm good, but if you want to give me a compensatory pick in the third round so that Hans has to draft there instead of my normal spot, that would be much appreciated. LOL
|
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
My picks look correct as well
|
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
I'm good.
|
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
Other than the inferior Disciples of the 26 Chambers hijacking our team, all looks good.
Sincerely, Disciples of the 36 Chambers https://i.chzbgr.com/maxW500/5681830656/hAF21C5C2/ |
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary

|
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
The official start of the draft is 12:01am May 24, which is when clock will begin keeping time on each pick, but picks can begin being made anytime prior to that, in order of course.

Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
For those of you who like reports from Rookie mini camps here is a real treat.
In an effort to save you some time so you can enjoy your Memorial Day period, and prep for all those college graduation parties, etc., I’d like to do a quick recap of reporting from all the rookie mini-camps, for all 32 teams, concerning all the rookies you are looking at from your favorite team, and/or for a Dynasty Rookie Draft purposes. Here’s what the coach said about that high-round draft pick, after watching him from recent rookie mini-camps: “We’re excited about ______ (fill in whatever rookie you were looking up info on). He’s as good and/or better than we thought. We’re really excited about what _______ brings to the table. ________ had a very good camp. We’re looking forward to a big year from ________. “ Here’s what the coach said about that undrafted free agent rookie long-shot you had your eye on: “________ is working hard. __________ did some good things out there. ________ needs to keep working hard. We liked what we saw from _______.” Here’s what the guys paid to follow the team said about the exciting rookie ________. “They really like this kid.“ Here’s what you never hear about any rookie from the rookie mini-camps: “I was on the fence with _______, but after seeing him in camp just now, my suspicions were confirmed…we made another $#!tty draft pick. I’m not sure if the GM has his head up his ass, or just his scouts. Either way, I’m stuck with this turd. We can’t cut him already, but I’d like to speed up the inevitable if I could. What were we thinking? Is that microphone on?“ |
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
And we're off
|
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
Huh...kinda of unexpected at the top. Has to make Philly a bit happier about 1.03
|
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
Solid speed WR going to one of the the top offenses in the league? I like it myself.
|
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
Yes, but taking a "solid" receiver with the first overall pick in the draft? I think that's defined as a reach. I think I'd rather have very good talent on a solid team than solid talent on a very good team, but time will tell.
|
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
This year, I just don't see that there is stand out, obvious, consensus #1 pick. Cooks is just as good as any of the other WR's available. And in this day and age, RB's just are not as valuable any more, unless you can get a McCoy or AP. But we'll see....
|
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
Not a #1, but there is some solid argument that there is a #1 and #1A in most scoring systems, especially with some ppr. I don't think Cooks is a bad pick, just surprising. If he's your guy, go for it.
|
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
Cooks is the bigger, badder, stronger, more agile, just as fast as Tavon Austin. So I think he's in the ball park for the #1 overall pick.

Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
The 'clock' will officially begin running tomorrow at 12:01 am...good luck everyone
|
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
16 hrs to official start!
Fair warning, i likely won't make my pick until this evening. I can see no benefit to picking early. |
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
Clock is officially rolling now, as of 12:01 this morning. PencilNeck Geeks is on the clock.
|
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
I'm in a wedding today so in very unlikely I can get on to pick if it gets to 2.05. I will be back tomorrow. Just wanted to give the heads up.
|
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
Thanks for the heads up Scott. Enjoy.
|
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
Clowns were traveling back from Cali...he said he should make his pick this afternoon - Enjoy the holiday today!
|
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
Today is a travel day for me. I will be flying out of Hawaii at 1:00pm (7:00pm ET) with a short layover in Phoenix before landing back in Indy at 6:00am ET.
|
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
As Mike did in Frenzy draft tracker, I've added a summary by team at the bottom - I liked it in Frenzy...helps keep track of what each team is doing better...
Enjoy |
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
Thanks Burt, I like that feature.
|
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
About time for someone to select a QB. In Frenzy 3 QBs came off the board in 3rd round.
Johnny "Freakin Football" Manziel is still in the green room!! And whoever selects him needs to post good pics. Check out Frenzy pick 2.01. Well worth the time to see pics and read the comments. |
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
Bobby....you stepped on my touchdown call....

Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
Mid-2nd round is where you can take some risks with picks without paying too great a price and still get some great sleepers. Scott is certainly doing that. I don't have faith in Manzy's chances, but I love the Lee pick.
|
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
Time will tell, both have shown high levels of talent and both went to teams with many questions. I wasn't really expecting either to be available when I picked so overall I'm happy with the chances I took, right now.
|
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
Bird is aware...not sure how long he will take...not sure where he is..he could still be on vacation too....
|
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
I talked to Jason..they had a doctors appt this morning.....he should be picking here soon.
|
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
FYI: I'm traveling from CO to boston today. I'll do my best to keep up with picks as I go, but if the draft sits on 3:13 for a bit that's why.

Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
Safe travels Dave. If you need updates, you can text me at 7192326848
|
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
Thanks, I should be good. I'll use my smart phone to help me make smart picks. I'm much more worried about the beer I consume this weekend leading to poor/impulsive drafting ( I'm catching up with college buddies sans families)
|
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
Nice...I do that each year during our annual baseball auction...when I start running low on CBs and the beer takes over my bidding......
|
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
As we have hit an 18 hour lull in the draft, for your listening pleasure while you are waiting, a little Mountain Jam:

Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
Dale texted me he just started three hour drive somewhere in the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee...so might be late tonight before we get his pick...slow past couple days...hopefully can pick it back up tomorrow
|
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
I guess our draft landed at a crappy time for everyone...maybe we'll be done mid June...
I am thinking we should start UFA on June 9th whether this thing is done or not. I hate to have both going same time, but the draft has slowed down so much, I think its necessary to get our rosters filled in by mid August. Or will starting it June 16th still give us enough time? Thoughts? |
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
I'm ready any time.
|
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
I'm ready anytime. I'd like to get the draft wrapped up this weekend at the latest though.
|
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
Hell Mutts are good to go.
|
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
I think you can start on the 9th. If by some terrible chance the draft isn't finished, i can't imagine bottom of 6th rounders are going to impact free agency that much.
|
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
I'll be in California both dates, so it doesn't make a difference to me.
|
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
Hans and his wife decided at last minute to drive to Vegas to play in the seniors event at the WSOP. Maria busted out first day, but as far as I know, Hans is still in it after day one break. Hopefully he will pick before he times out today.
Good luck Hans! |
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
Bird is on the road and has timed out. So pick when you want Brandon and Bryan can make his pick when he can and we'll be done
|
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
I'm on my way to work. I will pick in the next couple of hours.
|
Re: Official 2014 Rookie Draft Commentary
Another successful draft. Well done men!!
Everyone please review the summary by team at bottom of the Draft Results thread, and make sure the player, position and salary are all correct. I plan to load each team off this after declarations are posted in August. Thanks |
