Popes/Mutts agree to major deal AKA Leonard Pope Becomes A Pope!

Leonard Pope finally finds where he belongs.

Mutts give:
T. Henry (605/2)
J. Walker (2200/1)
C. Brown (794/1)
L. Pope (110/2)

Popes give:
R. Brown (908/3)
T. Owens (2148/1)
A. Crumpler (798/1)

Once confirmed, Popes will make a cut to to free up a spot on the 13 man roster.

----------

GM Jason Seashore (in Emperor voice) to Leonard Pope:

"Now, fullfill your destiny and take Alge Crumpler's place at my side!"

or

"It is your destiny. You, like Vernon Davis, are now mine."

Yeah, I'm a dork.

I know Henry has a 2 year deal, but I think the Leinart, McGahee, Gates deal you had offered (then retracted) for Brown and TO was better for you.

I disagree (obviously, or I wouldn't have made the trade). For me, 75% of the gist of the comparison is MaGahee for the rest of this year only vs. Henry with an extra year, at only $666 and no bonuses running that up. I see a lot more potential in the Den offense than the Balt offense.

There's other little things that also pushed me this way. For example:

1. As I mentioned to you, our trade put me in a bind Week 7, when I'd lose starters as I face Absolut losing no one. This trade puts me in a bind in Week 6, when I lose starters as I face Amish (losing both Parker and C. Johnson). No offense to Joel, but I'd much rather face Brett's team at full strength when he is, and take my chances being short-handed at the same time that Joel is.

2. There's more value to me in having Walker as a possible RFA match rather than Gates (since V. Davis is my future). To match on Gates negates half the point of my trading the 1.1 (to build my future around Benson and Davis).

Puff Puff goes T Henry the illegitimate kid maker - Maybe the preds deal was better in light of this development.

:lmao:

Poetic justice! :j/k:

Being from Buffalo, I have to say I'm not at all surprised by the news on Henry's likely 1 year suspension. The kid has NO CHARACTER. Complete scumbag. While still with the Bills, he got off easy on a statutory rape charge (picked her up 2 miles from my house BTW). The guy has clearcut issues (9 kids, 9 different mothers). Then came the 1st marijuana suspension soon after he was dumped off on Tennessee, and now this.

Jason, not trying to rip on you, as this clearly sucks for your team and is a major bummer I'm sure. Henry is a very good RB, but his lack of character is ultimately his downfall.

ETA - In fairness, I should add that McGahee isn't exactly a role model of character either. He's also a complete tool.

Wow, I honestly didn't see that coming. I've always considered Henry a risk to miss time to injury, but I guess I missed his first run-in with drug testing in Buffalo.

I don't think anyone saw the 1 year ban coming, though like the Ricky Williams situation, nobody should be surprised by it either.

Funny how Mutts can't seem to successfully maneuver the FA market (see numerous over the cap penalties), yet they've got no problem totally destroying my squad in trades. He took my best RB and best WR and gave me an about-to-be-suspended RB and a WR that never sees the field (today's news: "Denver Broncos wide receiver Javon Walker needs another surgery on his right knee; Walker will have an operation Friday in Houston and will be out 'for a few weeks'").

Despite it all, I somehow remain within the range of plausability for the playoffs.

I predict the Mutts' future calls to Popes HQ re trade inquires will go unanswered ;)

"Walker's arthroscopic right knee surgery he had in Houston went well but the doctors said Walker will likely be out six weeks. Shanahan said Thursday that Walker, who has missed the past two games, was expected to miss four weeks."

That day I spent negotiating/trading with Mutts is like a one night stand. First he never calls me like he promised (Henry's looming suspension). Now the doctor tells me I have an STD (Walker's injury).

Re: Popes/Mutts agree to major deal AKA Leonard Pope Becomes A Pope!

"Atlanta Falcons tight end Alge Crumpler has not practiced all week because of knee and ankle injuries and is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints. Crumpler is averaging a career-low 10.7 yards per catch this season on just 19 receptions in six games."

Small consolation, but you left your watch at my place and I'm keeping it.

One last thought on a trade that has turned to crap for both sides. I traded away TO because I'm always afraid he could blow up (mentally) and knock out the rest of his season. Who'da thunk he'd be the last one standing???

A. Crumpler = injured and talking smack about his coaches

What an :insane: year this is injury-wise.

J, I missed the one night stand analogy previously, good stuff.

I also noticed that Pope scored a touchdown this past week. Quite appropriate considering you just cut him and all.
