Valencia MIA

Has anyone heard from Brett? I left him a message on the phone number listed on MFL and just sent him an email. No repsonse. He was on MFL and here on March 17th, so he has to have been aware of the RFA deadline.

I am thinking of holding up the RFA bidding opening for a week, until we get word from him. If he's drops out, I'd hate to turn over a team that lost several key players, and no activity to replace them. Thoughts?

Re: Valencia MIA

Sounds good. Should we give him a deadline on when he needs to let us know what's up or else find a replacement?

Re: Valencia MIA

I'd agree we need to contemplate a replacement. We obviously have the same issue in the Frenzy. he didn't decalre any RFAs and he hasn't responded to my numerous emails/PMs, even when he was on the site.

So would the new owner get to "retro" :) his RFA's?

I think that would be reasonable

Bringing in a new owner would be the only instance I can think of where "retro" would be appropriate (if that sufficiently maneuvers me out of the box I put myself into).

Give him a deadline, if not find a replacement owner and allow them to declare RFAs.

We should also hold off the RFA period until this issue is resolved.

Re: Valencia MIA

From the perspective of new owner, I would agree that a replacement owner could be allowed to retroactively declare RFAs... But a returning owner who missed the deadline? I might have a problem with that...

I was just totally screwing around :) I agree that a new owner should get to retro as long as RFA bidding is held off which is the best option IMO.

OK, I'll PM him and email him that he has until April 1st to give us an indication of what he is doing. I'll give him until April 1st. If we don't hear from him by then, we'll put the RFA bidding back a week and look for another owner. Anyone who knows of a person looking for a team, please let me know. I exhausted my resources finding 2 this winter.....

FYI, there have been attempts to contact Brett via e-mail and phone, to no avail.

Also, Frenzy is basically taking the same angle: if nothing by April 1, we push RFA back a week and find a new owner.

Frenzy teams: if we need to find a new owner, I have an interested buddy who would be perfect: a great guy who likes to get the FF chatter going and make up stories/press releases about his team and other fun FF stuff. Dodgers and I played with him in our old league for about 8 years.

Blame Brian - he got me hooked on this and now I spread the dynasty league gospel to my friends! :D

And when Popes talk about the Gospel, people listen :pope:

Re: Valencia MIA

Hey Guys. I have just been chatting with Mike. He is willing to take over both Bretts teams during the RFA process. If and when Brett returns, if he has a legitimite reason for being MIA (he could be lying in traction at the hospital for all we know), or if we have to turn the teams over to a new owner, at least his team will be in good working order. If he does show up from a month long fishing expedition, then we access him a yearlong cap penalty for being a bonehaid. The guy has been playing for years and has always been a solid owner, so we should give him the benefit of the doubt. I think this would be best for the leagues as a whole. So we'll give Mike over the weekend to asess both teams, and declare RFA's by Monday.

If Frenzy is ok with this, can whoever is handling the apps send him copies of both 2007 and 2008 if completed?

Re: Valencia MIA

FYI, I just got off the phone with Brett. For medical reasons, I will be taking over his teams this summer. Brett's been in the hospital the past week. I'd rather not get into specifics, I've given the reasons to Brian and Burt. If you all need specifics, Brett's ok with me sharing them, but IMO, giving him privacy in the matter is the right way to go. The people in charge that need to know have been told.

Anyhow, he should be back in the driver seat when the regular season starts. At that point we'll co-run the team this season, but he will be making the calls if all is well.

For now, rename the squads the Valencia Attack. I was going to go Predators, but decided to retire them permanently.

Burt, grab the red helmet from the Frenzy site. The A on it still works for the new name.

Sounds appropriate, we don't need the gory details. It's never good when you need to spend at least a week in the hospital. At least we know, and I wish Brett a speedy recovery. On the lighter side, we get to jump into RFA bidding on time - can't wait.

Good to hear. Hopefully he is ok.

The league is always funner with more Raider fans.

Thanks for filling in, Mike. I hope Brett fully recovers, and quickly!
