Thought about this and the Amish decide to DECLINE the offer on Parker. Enjoy his "goalline" carries Jason :)

I wouldn't pay Willie that either.

Soooo Jason, you were saying about not being stuck with Willie and LJ?

Time to panic. :lmao:

Willie's not worth that contract. For the record, neither is LJ at 3100.

Giddyup. No panic here. I don't make a bid unless I've worked out exactly how I can live with it if I land them. I still think Ragers make a blunder if they don't match LJ, so I'll believe it when I see it. And if he comes my way, we'll be happy to make room!

And of course Parker and LJ aren't "worth" their contracts - this is RFA. It's what you have to do to acquire players.

Try and talk your way out of it, but you interferred one too many times with bids you wanted no part of if plan A came to fruition. Ask Frank how that worked out for him a couple years ago.

IMO, Ragers isn't matching LJ. I wouldn't at this point, especially since it puts you in cap hell (over 2900 over) which will force you to cut either LJ or Willie and take a huge penalty. The only other option is to decimate your team.

You can HOPE that someone opens an RFA, so you can decline without taking the cap hit, but if the league is smart... they leave them alone a few days and force the issue.

It's bidness, and the smart thing for your opponents to do. You've backed yourself into a corner, and your leaguemates should realize that it's to THEIR benefit not to let you out of your situation.

Me waiting for you to bid on LJ is the same principle and concept as your bid with Derek Anderson. I waited know that you were going to bid on LJ. Why not make it "difficult" for a division rival if you have to sign both of them. If I would have declined right away, there would have been no strategy forcing you to bet. So even though it held up the 3 of us that are actually bidding, so be it. I would rather have you have to squirm and figure out the cuts you'll need to make than give you the easy out and decline right away.

Funny how people can 100% change their tune from Anderson to Parker.

Anyway, well played Joel. No complaints from me - I'd have played it EXACTLY the same way. You should always be looking at ways to cramp your opponents, especially your division-mates.

Not changing my tune at all. I just had more control over this situation

Don't you know by now that I LOVE to be duplicitous... particularly when it comes to bidding.

Oh, I know. But I thought it was limited to times when it actually served a purpose (there's active bidding and some value to smokescreening). Now that I know it applies to your post-bidding commentary, I won't have to waste my workday replying to it anymore.

I feel a lot of animosity in Frenzy this year.

Yeah, sorry about that. It's just frustrating to spend so much time typing (see Anderson defense) and having it be pointless. I don't need to vent on the board. My apologies for bringing y'all down! I'll shut it now :)

Carry on laughing at my moves! It'll at change once these squads hit the field. I'm happy with who I will be fielding. :)

 the animosity didn't come from ME in this thread...

back to the issue at hand, look back at Frank's situation a couple years ago, he got bit in the you know what hard after winning LT and another stud RB (Alexander?) and was 3 or 4k over the cap and had to rip apart his team as a result.

Popes situation may be similar (almost 3k over) if he wins LJ and Ragers declines. Looking at his roster, there's not a lot of moves he can do without firesaling some players, and cutting his RFA's. Unless he eats one of the big RB contracts, he may be forced to let go of 3-6 players... and that is what I mean by decimating his team. The end result is that what he'll have to do to get under the cap won't equal his LJ/Parker backfield at 54.29% of his cap.
