2011 Playoffs
 

OK, well, it will be exciting end to the Season in SAC'd. It looks like only teams who have guaranteed slot in playoff are Guns and Mutts, with Gunslingers secure in #1 slot, and Mutts secure in #2 slot.

I must say, it is impressive the turnaround John accomplished with the Mutts team!! Well done John!!

I should have done this before games started last night....I can't really tell who is still in the hunt for final 4 spots, but it looks like they may all come from the Reggie White Memorial division in the Tommyknockers, Bloodsuckers and Floyds. I believe I have the inside track at the division title, by my H2H with Tommy, and my Division record over Blood...

We don't have #6 spot going to Power Rankings in SAC'D do we? If we did it looks like my losing record would probably get in. It's been a rough year for the defending champs.

No we don't..you can bring it up in off season though...I think it is good rule...

I like the rule and probably will. I'm going to end up with a 5-9 or 6-8 record and likely a top 6 PR and top 5 points scored. Unfortunately I've had 2nd most point scored against me to date. Amazingly I could end up with the #2 draft pick.

Tommyknockers is a mystery though with an 8-5 record despite having over 250 more points scored against them than points scored.

Let me know if I'm wrong but I believe the only other teams alive are the TommyKnockers (8-5), Floyds (7-6), Bloodsuckers (7-6), Mashers (7-6) and Bounty Hunters (6-7) for the final 4 spots...everyone else had 5 or less wins.

The TommyKnockers are in the playoffs...it just depends if they get the division or a wild card. If they win they get the division. If they lose (which means Bloodsuckers win), and the Floyds lose, the Bloodsuckers get the division by most overall pts. If they lose and the Floyds win, the Floyds get the division by best H2H record of the three teams.

The only way that I would miss the playoffs is if I lose and I were in a 3-way tie with the Bloodsuckers and Bounty Hunters and the Bloodsuckers outscored me by 40 pts and the Hunters outscored me by 160 pts as we all have a 1-1 H2H, so it goes to total pts.

The Bloodsuckers are in with a win either division or wild card as described above.

If they lose, and the Floyds, Mashers and Hunters win, they would be out as they would lose the H2H vs the Hunters.

If it's a 3-way tie between the Bloodsuckers, Mashers and Hunters, the Hunters would have to outscore the Bloodsuckers by more than 120 pts to take the final WC spot.

If it's a 3-way tie between the Bloodsuckers, Floyds and Hunters, the Floyds would have to outscore the Bloodsuckers by 275 to take the final WC spot.

The Floyds are in with a win and would win the division with a win and a TommyKnocker loss.

If they lose, and the Bloodsuckers, Mashers and Hunters win, they would be out as they would lose the H2H vs the Hunters.

If it's a 3-way tie with the Floyds, Mashers and Hunters, the Floyds would be out as they would lose the combined H2H to both the Mashers and Hunters.

If it's a 4-way tie with the Floyds, Bloodsuckers, Mashers and Hunters, the Floyds would be out as they would lose the combined H2H. Mashers: 2-1, Hunters: 2-1, Bloodsuckers: 2-2, Floyds: 1-3.

Let me know if you see mistakes or if I missed a scenario. There are a lot of possible options.

if I figured correctly Hunter are in with a win and a Floyds loss and a Bloodsuckers loss.

Why do the Hunters get in over me?

Doesn't the 6th spot go to power rankings? I'm currently ahead of Hunters unless it drastically changes after tonight.

That rule passed this year in Frenzy....no one proposed it in SAC'd. You both have same record, and Hunters beat you in your only H2H match up.

Well, with the Clowns come from behind victory over Mashers, that puts Mashers, Bloodsuckers and Hunters in a three way tie for the last two WC spots.

All three beat each other for exact 1-1 H2H records.
Hunters and Bloodsuckers each had 3-3 DIV records - Mashers were 2-4.

Thus Hunters and Bloodsuckers are in, Mashers out (I guess this was a missed scenario above?)

So the seedings are:
Seeds Team
1 Gunslingers
2 Hell Mutts
3 Tommyknockers
4 Floyds
5 Bloodsuckers
6 Hunters

Division records only apply to those in the same division, thus it comes down to total points scored.

Hunters - 2240.00
Mashers - 2385.75
Bloodsuckers - 2357.85

So Mashers and Bloodsuckers are in and Hunters are out.

Bloodsuckers get the #5 seed and Mashers get the #6 seed as Bloodsuckers won the H2H matchup in the regular season.

The Leagues tie-breaking system for play-off qualification and seeding is as follows:
1. Head-to-head record
2. Division Record (between teams from the same division)
3. Total Overall Points
4. Coin Toss

Ok, I was a bit confused as I understood it as Patrick posted above. So I get Brees and Gronk...great. At least I dodge Matt Forte.

I would say the parity was pretty good this year as 8 of the 12 teams finished between 6 and 9 wins.

For sure...for my sucky team (#8 in Power Rankings) to not only make the playoffs, but to have a shot at Division title in last week, and to end up #4 seed is proof of that for sure!!

Yeah, when did that change? Earlier this week I was the 6th seed. I believe I'm still the 6th seed.

Does this still apply:

12F. Home Field Advantage

The higher seed in the 1st round of the playoffs will have 7 points added to their score as a home field advantage. There will be no home field advantage in the championship game since that is considered to take place at a neutral site.

This is from the Rules section of the MFL site. Not sure if it still applies since it only mentions Round 1.

Good luck in the finals guys.

It's funny how that a matchup that didn't even involve Frank helped him get in the playoffs. He was on the outside looking in until Rivers and VJax had a huge game on MNF to lead the Clowns over me in the last week which dropped me to a three way tie with Frank and Bobby and got Frank in....where if it was just Frank and Bobby tied, Bobby would have been in.

FF has weird luck sometimes....
