Note to self...

As long as Peyton is the QB, don't bench Decker. Even after a horrendous game like last week's in NE. My match vs. the Swords is probably out of reach... But I could be kicking some serious Predator butt... (Sigh)...

Re: Note to self...

heh..what you going to do..I think Dale had him on the bench in SAC'd too...

Re: Note to self...

Funny thing is, Jim still has a good chance to beat me this week without Decker.

Thanks go out to the Swords though, it's likely Jim will fall a bit short of overtaking them. If he somehow does though, he will win the division if I also lose to the Burners.

You got the BEAST going tonight Mike...have no fear...BEAST MODE is here!!

Re: Note to self...

Should be an interesting finish for sure...I think I have one of the WC slots locked up with my 2 wins, and a scoring change in my favor against the Scorpions last week.

Still sucks, I could have 2nd best record in league, but lose home field advantage to both the other division champs...oh well... or did we eliminate the silly 7 point home field advantage rule?

Re: Note to self...

Division winners should get Home Field. I don't think it's silly at all, and usually I'm in a WC slot and playing against it. I haven't won the division in many years.

So if I finished 10-4, and Bobby finished 11-3, and you finish 8-6 in weak division, you still feel you should get an extra 7 points, even though I beat you in our head-to-head matchup and finished 2 games better than you? (this is just an example, as I know you beat me this year, and will most likely not have better record than you by 2 games)

You sound like you would be a good fit with NCAA rules committee, still living in the 80's...

I will go ahead and push for rule change next year, like we smartly approved in SAC'd, to base seedings on Record, and not whether you got lucky and ended up in a weak division....

Burt, i think you forgot that Mike is in the strongest division, at least that what he said when he got back in the league. I realize that was trash talk and we have a new Mike this year but he can still get harranged on stuff he said in the past.

Re: Note to self...

Yes, I think we have shown which Division is far and away the best division this year at least...

Scorpions December 2nd, 2013 06:54 PM

Re: Note to self...

yes, I had him on the bench in sacd, tried to diversify my roster, wont happen again, LOL

Scorpions December 2nd, 2013 06:57 PM

Re: Note to self...

Ha, with the guys I have going tonight, I should go 12-2. knock on wood

Interesting....so this is valid... both Chunks and Burners finish with a better record than Predators, but get penalized if we play them in playoffs. Just does not seem right...

Re: Note to self...

On a side note... I think you'll find that the vast majority of games aren't within 7 points... So that shouldn't be a factor. (I'm sure that makes you feel a WHOLE LOT MORE CONFIDENT!)

Scorpions December 3rd, 2013 12:23 PM

Re: Note to self...

I'm sure the kc chiefs feel the same way right now, tossed aside by Denver, still they have to travel first round of playoffs and play a 8-4 team. ;-)
Carolina even has it worse.

And that does tie into my initial argument of not even having it at all...

But oh well, it is what it is...I'll just keep putting up 170+ points and won't have to worry...

Burt, you can''t deny that Home Field makes a distinct difference in the NFL. Vegas bookies give it a 3 point edge on average.

In the Frenzy, we gave a points advantage to somewhat mimic this advantage in the playoffs (though we do it on a far smaller scale). Realistically it should probably be 12-15 points since our average score is 4-5 times that of a typical NFL game.

To be honest, I'd be open to giving it for regular season home games. I like it, whether I'm playing against it or with it.

Re: Note to self...

Yah, well if you noticed the game last night, home field advantage in REAL LIFE is quite an advantage, in that home crowd fuels the players. No denying that.

In FF, it ludicrous to think you need to give "Home Field" advantage. could be most of your players are actually playing on the road, so you have to give up points even though majority of your team is visiting? Gimme a break

Re: Note to self...

I'd be up for this. Home/Away really means nothing in FF regular season.
It would be a cool addition (right up until someone loses their first game by less than whatever the home field points were, and then the cosmic sense of fairness would be rattled and a petition to revoke this "stupid rule" would make the way onto our message boards).
