Ok, let's hold on for a minute here. What have we done before when a first round pick was not declared in declarations ? They certainly did not just lose thm outright did they? Seems pretty harsh for an oversight. ..on my phone but will research later

Do we treat them like a FA/RFA and they automatically get a 1 year deal? I'm not saying I advise this, but I definitely don't think the person should out and out lose the pick.

Re: RB David Cobb, TEN

There were two different declarations posted and neither one of them listed Cobb. Seems to me like he should be a FA.

First: http://predsff.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25125
Second (correct): http://predsff.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25179

Right...basically missed declaring Cobb's contract. The standard penalty for violations is losing the later pick, not losing your 1st round pick. I even helped him with his declarations, and apparently I missed Cobb also.

I found one case where that was going to be the penalty:

I think to be consistent with other declaration violation penalties, he should lose his last pick, 4.1 - LB Denzel Perryman SD, and Cobb is assigned the remaining 3 years left of the 32.

loosing the pick because of a mistake is harsh and unjust.

I might be inclined to agree, but only because he this is his first Rookie Draft/Season right?

It's his second.

Yes, that would be it according to the Rookie Roster Infraction Penalties article in section 7F. Salary Cap Penalties (aka Roster Penalties) of the rules:

If any infraction is made to Taxi or Practive Squads, during Declarations, such as over cap, or neglecting to assign a rookie pick, then the penalty will be Loss of lowest rookie draft pick on squad in violation (TS or PS)

Unless Cowboys Geek would rather keep Denzel Perryman over David Cobb...figured I'd throw that out so we can get confirmation from Jason :)
