I think that LaDell is mine at this point. If that is the case please assign him a 3 year contract. I don't think any other roster move is needed since I had some open space. Thanks!

Actually, according to the rules I believe the last valid bid was the Toxic Waste at $410 before the game Thursday. We will need a ruling from the rules chairman on this one. Sorry for not catching it earlier.

The rule:

"Bidding for Free Agents will take place each week from 12:00am Tuesday until 12:00pm Saturday.*Exceptions to this schedule will occur during weeks where there are Thursday games. During these weeks, Bidding will begin at 12:00am Tuesday, and end at 12:00pm Saturday however, players involved in the Thursday game(s) cannot be bid upon from gametime Thursday until the following Tuesday at 12:00pm."

My interpretaation of this rule is not that the player sold on Thursday, but that bids on players involved in the Thursday game couldn't be initiated until the following Tuesday.

Now this is a situation where the player was already in bidding BEFORE the Thursday game.

IMO this rule is totally ambiguous and doesn't even seem to be necessary, it's not like we can just pickup guys off waivers, they're all bid on. This kind of rule makes sense in a waiver system but not a bid system.

Okay, so does this mean that the bidding for LaDell is still open?

Looking at the Rules it would seem like someone could post a bid a minute before game time (for Thursday games) and be awarded the player. Either that or bidding is suspended until the following Tuesday.

I guess this will defer back to the Rules Chairman.

I would say he HASN'T sold (just my interpretation of course).

Further, I would say all bids during the inactive bid period between 8pm Thursday and the opening bid time on Tuesday (12am?) would be the same as a bid made at the opening of the bidding on Tuesday, meaning Betts currently wouldn't sell until 12:00am Wednesday.

I agree with that assessment.

I would agree with that interpretation. It seems that the bidding would be suspended, not ended. That's the way I would read it anyway.
