Re: 2017 SAC'D Roster App

Starting list here:

Moonshiners - Jesse James traded to Tommyknockers - still on Shiners roster
Hell Mutts - Missing Lorenzo Alexander, BUF DE 330cb/1yr
Sean - Missing Justin Houston - trade with Tommyknockers
Tommyknockers - Houston traded to Sean, Jesse James traded to Tommy

Re: 2017 SAC'D Roster App

Floyds - Deone Bucannon is a LB on MFL - listed as CB on App

Gunslingers -
1) Not sure what status on Wentz is. Matt did not say to move Wentz directly to TS, so I moved him to active last year after trade
2) Logan Thomas is listed as TE on MFL, QB on App
3) Mike Wallace should be on active roster at 385cb/1 yr
4) Hau'oli Kikaha is listed as DE on MFL - LB on APP

Re: 2017 SAC'D Roster App

Gunslingers started Wentz in several games last year, so he would have been active from the date of the trade onwards...

Removed Jesse James from Shiners
Lorenzo Alexander already on Hell Mutts at 330/1
Added Justin Houston to Needles(?) and removed from Tommyknockers

Thanks!

Since no promotion was announced, I just moved Wentz to TS (lateral move), but have changed it on roster apps.

Changed Logan Thomas to TE. Looks like Bills want him to play TE since he was a QB bust in Arizona

Added Mike Wallace and adjusted contract on 2016 roster app (salary was wrong)

Kikaha should be a LB. He is listed as such on Saints website and RotoWorld. Looks like you may need to adjust this on MFL.

Thanks!

I hate to insult anyone's intelligence, but have any of you been using Google Sheets to view this?
If so, have you noticed any problems?
If not, have we ever considered just sharing it as a Sheet instead?

I've got to think that re-updating and then re-uploading and then hoping everyone is latest-and-greatest must be somewhat burdensome, and having a real-time document available for viewing would be a good thing.

I've been downloading and then re-uploading the spreadsheet into my Drive and it appears to work just fine, but I could easily be missing something here.

My intelligence is not insulted but I've never heard of google sheets. Maybe because i have no reason to use it.

Re: 2017 SAC'D Roster App

I haven't used Google Sheets but I'll give it a whirl. I do store this on Dropbox so I could provide a direct download link. However, I only update it about once a week or if there are a bunch of transactions over a few day. Uploading the file really only takes about 10 seconds and then I post the "Updated" post so everyone knows when the last update occurred.

I get it.

This will be my only soapbox on this....so I hope. Sometimes I can't help myself. And also understand - Burt can surely attest to this - when I speak, I often do so with an intensity and passion that makes me sound unreasonably forceful. I am not, so please take this with a grain of salt.

By making an Excel sheet a Google Sheet, you gain the following advantages:

1)With a Google Sheet, THE sheet lives in one place. The editor goes to that place, and the readers of said sheet go to that same place. Editor makes a change, that change is seen real-time by everyone.

Currently, the process goes like this. Author has a *master version* of the sheet. He updates it, uploads it. No problem. But now we each must download this new version to our computers in order to be up-to-date. Have none of you ever had an issue of looking at an old version and not realized it? I realize there's a "current as of" date and all, but to actually only have one living version of a document is clean, simple, and lessens confusion. At this very moment, there are probably 12 copies of the latest version of the app out there right now - one on each of our hard drives.

2)The current model assumes everyone owns a copy of Excel. Which is fine, I assume all of you guys do. I actually "gave up" Excel two years ago, but I've just been downloading the app, then re-uploading it onto my Google Drive and have been viewing it with Sheets myself. Which isn't a big deal at all and it's saved me money. And I can view it anywhere on any computer, iPad, or phone.

3)The permissions on Sheets are such that you can choose who has edit rights, who has view rights, etc. In this case, I'd assume one person (who does this for us, anyway? I'm still lost as to who most of us are, my apologies!) would have edit rights and everyone else would have view rights.

Anyway, it's just a suggestion...I deal with this sort of thing in my real life all the time. At my school, the sharing and versioning capabilities of Docs, Sheets, Slides just makes things.....easier. And it's the type of easier you don't realize you're missing out on until you begin using it.

I have a MAC Book and after a quick search it looks like there are issues. Currently there are no issues downloading to Numbers. For me its working great the way it is.

Sean, does the link above give you direct access in Sheets?

Yes it does. Well, almost. It opens up a funky preview (this is normal) and then I select the "Open with->Sheets".

Not sure why having a Macbook would give you issues as everything lives within the browser?

Again, don't change everything just because of one squeaky wheel. Just something to consider at some juncture. And I do appreciate you taking a look!

Link worked fine on my Mac Book :D Appears to be view only, maybe that was the issue. Also that was not the latest version.

Sorry about that. Was trying to do it from my phone via Dropbox to Excel to Sheets - must have grabbed older cached copy.

I found something that may allow me to edit the Dropbox file and then have it sync with Sheets. I'll try to play around with it this week. I'm hoping if this all works, I can add two links (Dropbox and Sheets) to the main thread. The Dropbox link would be a direct link to the Excel file and the Sheets one would work like the link above.

Haven't had a chance to mess around with Google Sheets and Dropbox, but should have some time later this week.

I wouldn't worry about it. I'm able to take what you post and do what I need with it.

When the whole "Collaborative Software" craze becomes mainstream in another year or two, I'll bet we'll ALL move over then.

If its the cloud your looking for you can always put the Excel sheet as is on OneDrive and share it from there .. everyone could view with the web version of Excel.

Rico. Taco. TE. DL. DAL. I guess that's what happens when I wake up in the middle of the night, can't go back to sleep and decide to update the roster apps. Should be fixed now.
