Off season IR and renegotiations
 

Quick question:

I can't find in the rules what is required for activating players off IR in the off season.

I'm looking to renegotiate a few players but my ability to do so depends on the roster years sitting on the IR.

Can the IR players sit in IR until the league year turnover, or do i need to activate them and accommodate their years before renegotiating other players?

The rules are not really clear. But we have always waited until contracts roll over to move players off of IR. I think we had this discussion with Hans way back...just not finding it.

The rules only state when IR opens, not when it closes...but precedence seems to be that IR is cleared on April 1, and opened back up in August.

If you are asking if you can place players on IR still, that is clear in the rules:
"Rosters are frozen at the beginning of the week 14 games for non-playoff teams, and the minute a team is eliminated from the playoffs or wins the SAC'D Bowl, whichever comes first."

That works. Thanks for the clarification.

No I'm not interested in moving anyone to IR. My issue is that Watson's 5 years make it difficult to renegotiate anyone without a bunch of cuts.

But if I can leave his years on IR until April 1 I think I can manage to stay under the total year cap.

Just remember you only get 1 year relief from each person on IR
