Yah... tough issue. We've kind of said that once a bid or a claim is made, it's binding.
So... I feel like I'm going to have to say that Burt's bid stands.

A bigger question is... do we treat this waiver claim like a regular bid on a player... in which the 24-hour clock suspends when the player's game starts. Meaning, he won't be awarded until Tuesday? OR... is this a completely separate issue, and he can be claimed by Burt after 24 hours?

IMO a claim is no different than a bid and thus binding (sorry Burt).

ok no problem...and 24 hours or 5 days, doesn't matter when it processes, since its after the game starts, so does me no good this week....

I didn't dispute this, Mike.
The question is when does the 24-hour clock expire so the claim processes?
Is the clock affected by a NFL game for that player?

Oh sorry I misread your post. The 24 hour clock on a waiver claim is a full 24 hours, but don't believe the rules mention suspending waiver claims once a game starts.

That's a gray area for sure. We suspend all bids once a players game starts, thus following that lead, logically waiver claims should be suspended until Tuesday as well.

That's my thinking, too... that if a UFA player can't be claimed if the clock doesn't expire before kickoff, then the same would apply for waiver claims of a recently cut player.

SO... based on that... I'll rule that the 24-hour clock suspends at kickoff... and Burt's claim (if no one else makes one) will finish Tuesday morning.
