I forgot to bump him. Too out of the loop dammit!

#Matched
I wasn't planning on keeping Bell, but with the affordable price I had to match. |
Re: RB, LeVeon Bell, NYJ **SOLD to Pirates for 900cb - MATCH Pending by Roosters**
yah... we blew it. Let it sell too cheaply.

Re: RB, LeVeon Bell, NYJ **SOLD to Pirates for 900cb - MATCH Pending by Roosters**
I thought I started it out at a good spot, but no one jumped in to up the bid. Rick got a bargain.

Re: RB, LeVeon Bell, NYJ **SOLD to Pirates for 900cb - MATCH Pending by Roosters**
It just slipped through. I totally forgot to bump it, so pissed at myself! I think the 1am bid played a huge part in having us mixing up the 48 hour window, especially since it was the first bid placed for RFA's.
Ridiculous that 10 owners let this one slide. Great value for Roosters. |
Re: RB, LeVeon Bell, NYJ **SOLD to Pirates for 900cb - MATCHED by Roosters**
BTW, this contract is a prime example to the new teams of how careful you have to be when bidding on RFA's.
If you bid too low and it could be an easy match for the tendering team (like this example). You can't depend on other teams jumping in with RFA's and while you're hoping to pry the player from the tendering team, you need to make sure the bid is high enough to at least make them question whether they should match or not. UFA's you can try to get on the cheap, with RFA's low bids only help the tendering team in most cases. |
Re: RB, LeVeon Bell, NYJ **SOLD to Pirates for 900cb - MATCHED by Roosters**
The issue with starting to high is there are teams that bid just to bump the price. You can't start at your max or you won't get anyone through RFA... If I started Bell at 1300, someone would have bumped him to 1400. I've been knocked out to many times just because someone wanted to bump the price. You got to give those guys some room to increase the bids.

It's a balance between trying to get the bid in the right place. Low enough to allow for people to drive it up a little, but keeping the price near your own target; high enough to make it a little painful for the tendering owner to match.
It's what makes RFA interesting. I just hope that I get a deal like Rick did some day. # pirate |
Re: RB, LeVeon Bell, NYJ **SOLD to Pirates for 900cb - MATCHED by Roosters**
Bell is the absolute steal of the 2020 RFA period. We all failed on failing to increase this to a more realistic price. Enjoy the deal Rick!

Re: RB, LeVeon Bell, NYJ **SOLD to Pirates for 900cb - MATCHED by Roosters**
Yeah, you never know. This years running back RFA's all have their own issues and I wasn't sure where they would sell so I priced Bell on the low side. I didn't want to get "stuck" with him at 1400 if he didn't sell, now it looks like 1400 would have been a value. 900 was definitely a "steal" at this point.

Re: RB, LeVeon Bell, NYJ **SOLD to Pirates for 900cb - MATCHED by Roosters**
We will see if Bell is a steal at any price...he was an absolute bust last season...so not all 10 other owners "let him slip through". Wake up!!! Bell sucks and you can have him...see, that's how it works too...

Re: RB, LeVeon Bell, NYJ **SOLD to Pirates for 900cb - MATCHED by Roosters**
As far as Pirates comments on owners bumping to just bump...it is a fact and we ALL know who those owners are...they think they are some kind of price monitor or something, but really make this no fun at all sometimes...it gets to the point of ridiculous!!!

Re: RB, LeVeon Bell, NYJ **SOLD to Pirates for 900cb - MATCHED by Roosters**
I've said it before and I'll say it again... I never bid (or bump) on a player that I'm not willing to take on my team.

Re: RB, LeVeon Bell, NYJ **SOLD to Pirates for 900cb - MATCHED by Roosters**
I sometimes bump just to see how other teams will counter and if I end up getting the guy then I make room. I don't bid on guys I consider bad value but will bid on players at positions I don't have obvious need for if I feel they are going too cheaply... once the player exceeds my value I drop out of the bidding. Bid strong then see ya!!!

Re: RB, LeVeon Bell, NYJ **SOLD to Pirates for 900cb - MATCHED by Roosters**
Just an FYI. My comment wasn't a complaint - just a comment as to why I didn't bid higher on Bell initially.. And in the future, I will continue to bid a little lower then my expectations to allow for the bidding wars.... Or maybe I will bid my max initially. Just like in poker, you need to change it up a bit.

Re: RB, LeVeon Bell, NYJ **SOLD to Pirates for 900cb - MATCHED by Roosters**
FYI, I have no clue what I am doing....my bids are all willy-nilly....
|
Re: RB, LeVeon Bell, NYJ **SOLD to Pirates for 900cb - MATCHED by Roosters**
You do have a pretty nice willy, however (not sure about nilly!).

I thought his nilly was pretty solid, but his willy was iffy...
Any way... let the bidding wars continue, we still have a few players out there possibly looking for a new team, but hoping to remain with their old teams. |
