How does trading of PAST draft picks come into play here? Future draft picks certainly shouldn't.

With this argument your basically saying the rules votes to remove years shouldn't apply to current picks either which would be fine if the rules votes were put up to take effect in a future season, however they weren't. Are we going to waste time voting to toss out those results too?

So essentially allow a 6 year contract to a player that was active at one point. I don't think that would be right or fair to the league.

Perhaps, or maybe Sanders had a nice matchup you hoped to to exploit, or had been playing well and you wanted to take advantage of that. It's all history at this point. Nobody truly knows if your decision making would have been any different at the time or that there was a UFA you had cap and time to pickup instead.

You know this now makes draft picks more valuable and PREDS seems to have quite a few... who did you say was self-interested? Also, for voting NO you seem to be very much in favor.

I'm defending the original intent of the vote, which supposed to be a simple clarity and has blown up when it really shouldn't have. Heck you want to vote to make it apply to all TS/PS eligible players I'll gladly take advantage of that amnesty and bury Singleton on the TS then cut him with no cap hit. I mean theoretically, any TS eligible player could be demoted and then cut without penalty under that format, not just the players in question for you, Jim and Pat.

I'll also note that I already traded away a first already, and may yet trade away another one. Like all teams, I only have 5 TS and 5 PS slots, and limited cap and years available on the active roster. It's highly likely I move some of my picks or take players I end up having to release for lack of roster space, cap and years.

This honestly has no impact on my decision making, but you can look at it whatever way you wish.
