Starting lineup change proposal
 

I would like to propose the following lineup change - to allow for greater flexibility during huge bye weeks - this weeks numerous byes when fighting for playoff spot, really hurt some teams.

Currently for Offense, we have the following:
Total Starters: 9 MIN/MAX
Number of Starting QBs: 1-1
Number of Starting RBs: 1-2
Number of Starting WRs: 2-4
Number of Starting TEs: 1-2
Number of Starting PKs: 1-1

I would propose to increase the max RB's to 3 instead of 2
Total Starters: 9 MIN/MAX
Number of Starting QBs: 1-1
Number of Starting RBs: 1-3
Number of Starting WRs: 2-4
Number of Starting TEs: 1-2
Number of Starting PKs: 1-1

If enough interest, I will propose this for next year

Gone are the days when we had numerous stud every-down running backs. Most teams are a two-pronged rushing attack. I think the limit of 2 rbs was prudent back in the day... but things have shifted significantly in the NFL... so I'm in favor of this proposal!

I'm leaning against this proposal.
This will likely lead to RB hoarding because a top 50 RB is worth more than a top 50WR. Currently because we play more more WR that balances the positional demand. There are fewer RB, but the top 50 are worth more. If you allow for 3 starters per week the RB demand will spike and the current parity will decline when some teams hoard top RB and others are stuck playing the 75th best RB.

Here is the current point break down for 2024. Top 50 displayed under assumption of 4 per team which is probably reasonable for RB and WR.

I wouldn’t support this for the same reason Dave points out. I think we currently have enough flexibility. Yeah it suck’s so many good teams/players were on bye in week 14 but that may not happen year after year. The FF community will make its voice heard, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see NFL drop week 14 byes next year. Teams also have plenty of time to plan ahead just like any other bye week.
