Re-evaluation for Franchising

This needs revamped in CDL. So, maybe if we find something here, we can use it there. It's only used on DT & K in CDL (too darn expensive). Avg the top 10 is better than top 4

I agree top 10 would probably work with a min of 10 or 20% increase over current salary.

I would love to see the franchise tag used somehow.

Yep, there definitely needs to be a minimum raise level. Also, is there a limit to how many times a player can be franchised? Or can a played be franchised perpetually?

Can be done perpetually...if the owner can afford it.

Yes, like in the NFL, I think there should be limit of only one Franchised player per team.

Salary would be the average of the top 10 players (including their current if the player in question is one of the top 10) OR 10% increase over current salary -- Whichever is GREATER

Sounds good to me. Top 10 avg or 10% increase, the greater of the 2. And one franchise per team. Why make it compicated?

May want to go with more than 10% (since in the Frenzy that is the standard raise. Maybe 15%.

Also, we should probably define what positions are grouped together. QB, RB, WR, TE, K, DL, LB and DB makes sense to me. I guess we want to make sure that safeties and corners stay in the same bucket.

I'm thinking a 20% minimum raise on the franchise tag (or the top 10 avg, whichever is higher). On say Shaun Alexander (with a 2500 cb contract), 20% would be 500 taking it to 3000.

Seems about right to me.

Safeties and CB's have already been defined as DB's in another thread.

OK I have to ask, since I haven't read the book of rules yet..what the heck does CB stand for?

Either cyber bucks or cornerbacks based on the context.

BTW, when are the franchise values established? Is there a set date when we take the top 10 (or whatever) at each position and say this is the value? I am guessing the CDL has this defined and whatever they do will work here.

Re: Re-evaluation for Franchising

As stated in Thread. This will be happening April 1st. Any one player per team can be franchised when in his final contract year. New salary will be the average of the top 10 salaries for his position (including his salary if applicable) OR a 20% salary increase - whichever is GREATER.
Poll at the top.

Why bother? Let all the votes come in as they will. What matters is that the vote has passed.

I wouldn't bother closing it myself. We always enourage all the teams to vote regardless in the Frenzy usually.
