Christian Kirk has some of the best hands in this draft class, is a precise route runner, and has great vision and patience for the ball.
He also has some damn good acceleration!
Kirk has a long standing friendship with fellow rookie teammate, and likely future stud QB Josh Rosen, as they competed together in All-Star camps back in high-school and have kept in touch throughout college.
Interestingly, over the years Christian has also built a relationship with new teammate Larry Fitzgerald, who should be the ideal mentor to guide Kirk through the ropes in the NFL.
I would have loved to have been able to draft both Rosen and Kirk, but there was no way either would have slipped past Jim. I knew if I picked one he'd take the other. After weighing my needs, since we picked up Rivers as a RFA and have Cousins under cost control for a few more seasons, we decided to hold off on drafting a young QB and instead get another promising young WR for our well established veteran QBs to target. Trading down a slot also gives us another dart to toss later in the draft to maybe find a future star.
With the losses of Antonio Brown and Keenan Allen, Christian Kirk provides needed depth to the Preds young but talented WR corps. I anticipate Kirk will be a big contributor down the line and an excellent compliment to Michael Thomas, Will Fuller and Dede Westbrook. He also is a bit of a handcuff to Fitz, one of our key RFA pickups and a likely future HOFer.
