This has got to be one of the feel-good stories of this year's NFL draft. Allow me to introduce you to Boston Scott. He was too small to play on his 6th grade football team. In high school, it took a pair of injuries for him to get to see the field (then in 2 years as a starter he totaled 1500 all-purpose yards, while lettering in 2 other sports besides football: soccer & track). He found a college that would allow him to WALK-ON (Louisiana Tech)... and he played behind fellow Opihi Kenneth Dixon. THEN... before his sophomore year he developed Cramp-Fasciculation Syndrome, a rare muscle condition with no known cure that leads to involuntary twitching, discomfort, and fatigue. He had to take a year off to figure out how to manage that effectively. Now he's got a chance to make the NO Saints (he was a 6th round draft pick). He's incredibly strong & tough to bring down, fantastic ball security, and a decent pass blocker. "The next Darren Sproles" is the label some give him. We'll see about that. If he can keep his disease managed, he might carve out a nice complementary role in New Orleans alongside Alvin Kamara. He should have staying power because of his special teams play (should win starting kick & punt return duties!) Looking forward to watching this kid play in the preseason! Welcome to the Opihi, Boston!
