Re: I really dont like our IR rules
I would vote against a return to the 4 week IR or any minimum period beyond 1 week. I think the current IR rules are fair to all and give teams enough flexibility to get a sub when a player is only going to be out a week or 2. I haven’t been looking at other teams IR, but I know I certainly haven’t abused it with all the injuries I had, though I do wish there were more slots.
I could see expanding the IR under the current rules as teams like mine were decimated with injuries and scrambling to field lineups. Thankfully my guys are getting healthy but I suffered a few losses due to being severely beat up at WR as well as injuries elsewhere.
I think a layered IR approach would be worth considering. Something like season ending IR for guys with season ending injuries (unlimited slots at 25% cap hit), long term IR for guys out multiple weeks (2 slots with a 4 week minimum stay* at 50% cap hit) , and short term IR for guys only expected to be out one or a couple weeks (2 slots with a 1 week minimum stay* at 50% cap hit).
* short term IR must be reactivated within the first week after they no longer have an OUT designation and have met the minimum IR stay requirement
