Proposal for next season: extend the deadline for making roster cuts and adjustments to end of day (11:59:59 PM ET) on the day after the bidding ends. So, rather than the deadline happening exactly 24 hours after bidding closes, the winner manager would have until the end of the day on the day when the deadline would have been.
That way, the person who wins the bidding (and all of us, really) can just make sure to check once a day and we won't miss deadlines. Also, site admins don't have as much math to manage when enforcing deadlines.

Modified reading of rule:
This rule would replace the existing 24 hour roster compliance deadline by extending it to the end of day on the day AFTER an acquisition (11:59 PM ET post timestamps). Acquisitions include free agents, waiver claims, trades, etc. For example, if a free agent bid is won on October 1 at 7:00pm ET, any roster moves to get into compliance would need to be posted by October 2, 11:59pm ET.
