Week 13 Update

UPDATED WILDCARD SEEDING SHOWN IN PURPLE Sorry I keep forgetting that the tire-breaker for Wild Card seeds is based on All-Play wins.

After 13 weeks Central and West divisions are still up for grabs going into the final week of the regular season! Week 14 will have some hugely important matchups in determining the Central and West Divisions as well as playoff seeding.

In the West, the Underminers defeated the Echids by a SLIM 0.25 points to remain in the hunt for the division title and the 2nd seed and the week 15 bye that comes with it. That said, the Echids still control their fate, but they MUST defeat the Swords week 14, or have the Miners lose to secure the division and 2 seed. As for the Miners, they must win against a very good 9-4 Opihi squad AND get some help with an Echids loss to the struggling Swords in order to win the division and take the 2 seed. If the Echids lose they will be the 4 seed due to their 111 All-Play wins. If the Miners lose they will most likely be the 4 seed (they just need 1 All-play win to clinch being no lower than the 4 seed).

Meanwhile in the Central the division remains up for grabs there as well going into the final week. Whoever loses the Central Division will NOT make the playoffs and will fall to the Draft Seeding Bracket. The Swords have been reeling losing 4 straight games and no longer control their fate. The Ramsters own the tie-breaker based on a superior division record and all they have to do is win week 14 to earn the division title and the 3 seed that goes with it. It won't be an easy W, however, as they take on the 11-2 Predators who have won 7 in a row to take the top seed heading into the playoffs. That said, the Preds will likely be without their star WR trade Amon-Ra St. Brown who they acquired late in the season in a huge trade. Amon-Ra will likely sit week 14 after leaving early week 13 with a low ankle sprain. That's a big plus for Ramsters. As for the Preds, they'll turn to either Khalil Shakir or Tez Johnson to sub-in while Amon-Ra heals up and hopefully get him back for the playoffs week 16 when they need him. The Swords meanwhile, have a difficult matchup of their own as they take on the 9-4 Echids who are not only the highest scoring team in the league, but also lead the league in All-Play wins.

The final Wild Card spot has been clinched by the Roosters. None of the remaining non-playoff teams are even remotely in range of catching up to their 91 All-Play wins (which are 7 more wins than the 9-4 Opihi and just 8 back of the top seeded Preds)!

For the 5th seed, the Roosters have the edge with 91 All Play Wins, 7 more than the Opihi's 84. Just 4 All-Play wins by the Roosters or losses by the Opihi will put the Roosters in the 5 seed and Opihi in the 6 seed. The Roosters have a slim chance to move up to the 4th seed, but that can only happen if the Miners go 0-11 in All Play wins and the Roosters go 11-0.

The 6th Seed will most likely be the Opihi (84 All Play wins YTD) unless they win 7 or more All-Play games than the Roosters win. A tie in All-Play wins goes to the Opihi for their week 7 H2H win over the Roosters.

In summary:
1 seed (and week 15 bye) - Preds
2 seed (and week 15 bye) - Echids or Miners
3 seed - Ramsters or Swords
4 seed - Echids (111 All-Play wins) or Miners (101 All Play Wins) or the Roosters* (91 All Play Wins)
5 seed - Miners** (101 All-Play Wins), Roosters (91 All Play Wins) or Opihi*** (84 All Play Wins)
6 seed - Roosters (91 All Play Wins) or Opihi (84 All Play Wins)

* The Roosters have a very slim outside chance for the 4 seed that will only happen if they go 11-0 week 14 and Miners go 0-11
** The Miners can only be the 5th seed if they go 0-11 in All-Play Wins and the Roosters go 11-0
*** The Opihi must have 7 or more All-Play wins than the Roosters do in week 14 to move up to the 5th seed

For the Draft Seeding Bracket
Still to close to figure out, but the following is known.

6 seed will be either the 7-6 Swords or 7-6 Ramsters (depends on which of them loses the Central Division)

The 5th to 3rd seeds will be among the 5-8 Pirates, 5-8 Chickens, 4-9 Scorpions, and 4-9 Freedom

In the running for the 2 seed are the 3-10 Wolf Pack, 4-9 Freedom and 4-9 Scorpions and possibly even the 5-8 Chickens and 5-8 Pirates (depending on H2H results which I haven't dug into as there are so many possibilities)!

In the running for the 1 seed will be the 3-10 Wolf Pack, 4-9 Freedom and 4-9 Scorpions

Week 12 Update

3 Teams clinched playoff berths week 12.

The 10-2 Predators clinched the East Division due to 2 H2H wins over the 8-4 Opihi, as well as a top 2 Seed. The Preds can clinch the #1 seed with a win or an Echids loss in either week 13 or 14 due to H2H tie-breakers over the both the Echids and Miners.

The 9-3 Echids have clinched at least a Wildcard playoff berth. They can clinch the West Division and a top 2 seed with a win over the Underminers this week. A loss could drop them down to a Wildcard depending on what happens week 14.

The 8-4 Underminers have also clinched at least a Wildcard playoff berth (due to tie-breakers over both the Swords and Ramsters) and an outside chance at the West Division with a win over Underminers this week as well as a win week 14 and Echids loss week 14.

3 spots remain

The 8-4 Opihi control their playoff fate with a win in either week 13 or week 14 clinching a Wildcard spot.

The 7-5 Swords are in a bit of a tailspin and came dangerously close to potentially losing the Central Division last night had the 49ers not sacked Bryce Young with less than 4 minutes to play, giving the Freedom a very slim 0.20 point margin of victory over the Pirates. As a result the Pirates fell to 5-7 instead of improving to 6-6 and just a game back of the Swords with the potential division tie-breaker due to 2 H2H wins over the Swords this season. The Swords aren't completely out of the woods with the 6-6 Ramsters hot on their tail only 1 game back. Both teams are 2-3 in the division (1st tie-breaker) and only a game apart in All Play wins. With 2 weeks left to play, this division could go either way, though the Swords are control their destiny if they win out.

Finally the 6th seed is all but locked up by the 4-8 Roosters who have 81 All Play wins. Their season reminds me a lot of my 2022 Preds underdog 5-9 6th seed season playoff run that ended in a Co-Championship with ironically, the Roosters! We'll see how far their potential playoff run can go!

As for the Draft Seeding Bracket, with 2 weeks to go and 1 team at 3-9, 4 teams at 4-8, and 1 team at 5-7 there are too many variables left to determine the potential seeding order.
