Umm, know the Taxi Squad (TS) is much different from the CDL's DS.
I'll start with the Practice Squad (PS), it's a purely developmental tool for late draft picks. The only way to get a player placed on your teams Practice squad is to draft them in rounds 5 or 6 (assuming a 6 round draft). You cannot place more than 2 players on your PS each year, and can never have more than 6 at any given time (at least that's the proposed size).
If you activate a guy off the PS to the Taxi Squad (TS) or Active roster, they can never go back. Whereas TS players can move up and down (at a cost).
The Taxi Squad is literally that. It's a developmental tool, but one you can use periodically (at a cost). The only way to place a guy on the TS is via the draft, or trade of a TS eligible player. Once on the TS, the player can be called up (kind of like a minor league system) and play on the active roster at his current contract, however, if you choose to send a guy back down to the TS, you will increase his base salary by 25 for every week of the NFL season (including byes) that he was on the active roster. This increase will never roll back. The TS is currently 5 players in the Frenzy, but the proposal on the table is to make it 8.
Does this explanation help? Questions?
