If you are not going to really bid on a player, stay out of it. I know you're going to say "no, no, I really WANT him as my 9th QB." You actually only bid on most of these dudes to bid up the price. If a guy is gonna sell below my established market value, then screw it, I want him to sell to me. As it is, I could cut Favre and Vick and pickup Plummer and Hasselbeck and achieve 4-500 in savings for essentially the same performance.
So go ahead and STICK me, or keep underbidding guys and I'll shift to my plan B cut and Slash philosophy.
