Based on my memory, I traded for him after the soft cap period started, so cutting him then or now made no difference. Deuce was included in a trade mostly so help clear cap space from the other team. I was out of contention so I traded one of my 3 running backs then capable of starting, plus a scrub tight end, plus a 3rd round pick, for Todd Heap, a 1st, and taking on Deuce's salary. At the time, I figured I would actually be keeping Deuce going into this year, but looking at my roster situation comparing keeping Deuce to letting him go, I like how my roster looks and my flexibility better by letting him go. As far as I know, he looks to be on schedule, but their addition of Bennett doesn't bode well for the Deuce of old getting 99% of the RB touches. Finally, bottom line is Deuce coming off a knee injury isn't worth a top 5 salary.
