One small correction to the original post (and it clarifies some of the resulting questions). In our other league, the player must be injured in the first half of the game and not return in order for the sub to be used. Otherwise Burt was correct as far as taking the higher score of the original player and sub, etc.

I do like this rule in the other league as it keeps teams in contention even after a starter goes down. The fun part is when the backup player blows up and the owner goes into the Monday night game praying for an injury to his own player!
