Veto power should be abolished from the UN, IMO. Basically, the Security Council can hardly hold any nation with veto power, or the close allies of any of those nations, accountable for anything they do, which diminishes its effectiveness. But that's just my opinion. As it stands, we've bound ourselves via international treaty to the decisions of the Security Council (when those decisions survive our own veto); and of course there are debates over whether that's a good or bad thing, but currently it's case.
