I don’t disagree with any of that, Burt is 100% correct. I am only pointing out that the rule seems to be designed to allow owners broad leeway to open up roster spots (at a cost) when there is even a decent likelihood that a player won’t be available for a given week.

When we had the taxi-squad-eligbility fiasco, it was emphatically stated that the letter of the rules is irrelevant, when it contradicts the spirit. I absolutely agree with that approach - which is why I am trying to demonstrate what the spirit of the rules appears to be, but I may be wrong – in which case, I will cut right away.

(Side note – I do think suspension is legit IR reason, but a change we need to consider is to modify the language that says “listed on any injury report”. If, for example, Maroney is “Questionable” in the week 2 report, the current language would allow me to place him on IR in Week 10 – and that doesn’t make sense to me. There has to be some statue of limitations.)
