Re: Demote QB Mark Sanchez back to Taxi
I promoted Sanchez from the taxi squad at declarations 2011 (around 9/5/2011) so the demotion costs me 100 cb raise for him.
I explained my trade reasoning in an effort to get the trade through so both Derby Cars and I could use our new players this weekend.
Even with demoting Sanchez I needed to make another cut to come in compliance after the trade so I decided to cut Schaub. That way whether or not the demotion was acceptable I would be in compliance before my 24 hour adjustment period expired and penalties kicked in.
My issue with demoting Sanchez was the rules - I know I can get in compliance with cuts or trades and moving someone received to IR you had to be under the cap BEFORE you make the move. I just wasn't sure if a taxi squad demotion was more like a cut or an IR move. I couldn't demote him before the trade; no room. I hoped I could in the 24 hour adjustment period (especially since he wasn't involved with the trade directly) after the trade opened up a taxi slot but I just wasn't sure.
The sooner I demote Sanchez the less it would cost me so I did that right after I cut Schaub. With ARodgers and Sanchez having the same bye I don't need both active and if (Lord forbid!!!) I lose Rodgers I can promote Sanchez again. Every week delayed would cost me an additional 25cb raise.
Bottom line - I am happy with trade, cut and demotion.
