I propose the Taxi go from 5 to 8, and the Practice squad from 3 to 6, with two players able to be added to the Practice squad each year (depending on how we adjust the draft).

I need to look at difference between Taxi & Practice Squad in your book of rules. CDL only had DS (and three players at that). So, this seems like a lot to me.
I do NOT want to have increasing Practice/DS/Taxi. TOO MANY IMO |

Rami,
Remeber that they also have only 18 active spots vs 24-26 active in CDL. It works out to about the same # of players. |

He's proposing an 8 player Taxi (which can only be added to via the draft or trade of a Taxi eligible player) and a 6 player Practice Squad (which you can only add 2 players too per year via the draft only from rounds 5 and 6 or whatever we define). So after our 1st season, and when we have a rookir draft year 1 of the Practice Squad will consist of no more than 2 players. In year 2, no more than 4, maxing out in the 3rd year with a max of 6 players at any one time. Does that make more sense to you? |

Mike,
Thanks for the explanation. yes, it makes sense now (did not initially) - I initially read it as increasing the MAX number of players allowed. I would agree with this proposal Dodgers recommended. I would like to amend it by adding to increase IR from 3 players to 5 (simple math - if you have 3 IR for 18 players, add 12 more should be 2 more IR spots). I would like to vote on this as well. If not, let's get some more discussion on issues people have. |

I'll start with the Practice Squad (PS), it's a purely developmental tool for late draft picks. The only way to get a player placed on your teams Practice squad is to draft them in rounds 5 or 6 (assuming a 6 round draft). You cannot place more than 2 players on your PS each year, and can never have more than 6 at any given time (at least that's the proposed size). If you activate a guy off the PS to the Taxi Squad (TS) or Active roster, they can never go back. Whereas TS players can move up and down (at a cost). The Taxi Squad is literally that. It's a developmental tool, but one you can use periodically (at a cost). The only way to place a guy on the TS is via the draft, or trade of a TS eligible player. Once on the TS, the player can be called up (kind of like a minor league system) and play on the active roster at his current contract, however, if you choose to send a guy back down to the TS, you will increase his base salary by 25 for every week of the NFL season (including byes) that he was on the active roster. This increase will never roll back. The TS is currently 5 players in the Frenzy, but the proposal on the table is to make it 8. Does this explanation help? Questions? |
