Franchise Calculations
Burt posted some responses to this year's franchised players, but I don't get the same calculations. According to the rules, only those players on contract at the end of the season count toward the franchise values for the next season. See post - http://predsff.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9008. Did I maybe miss a change to the original rule?
Here are the calculations I get for each franchised position this year: Tight Ends
Defensive Linemen
Linebackers
Defensive Backs

Re: Franchise Calculations
ok, I just included the top 10 salaries with any player not showing a zero or negative years number. I did not check to see if they were still under contract.
So your numbers are probably accurate and I will use those.

Re: Franchise Calculations
Cool. Just making sure I didn't overlook a rule update from the original.
I'm wondering if we should revisit the Franchise rules for next season. Franchising players should be difficult and costly IMO. One thought is to reduce the number of players to calculate from 10 to 5. Another thought is to prevent a team from franchising the same player in back-to-back years. |

Re: Franchise Calculations
When I redid Gronk's numbers today I come up with what the "S"-Words did. I must have been using guys that were not under contract back 2015. My first time franchising a player.

Re: Franchise Calculations
After looking at Franchise values for 2017, I'd like to bring this up to a vote for this season to reduce it from calculating the top 10 to the top 5 or top 3.
I'd also like to address multiple year franchise designations to keep it to only one year. Another idea would be to add 30% to previous year's salary (more than typical salary cap increase of 20%) and take the higher of the two (30% salary increase or franchise average). Anyone else have an opinions or thoughts on this? |

Re: Franchise Calculations
Agreed..thinking it should be closer to a 1st or 2nd RFA tender for that position. I think top 4 would do it (and compromise between 3 and 5), plus make it a hell of a lot easier to calculate. And agree, it should be only those who were still on a teams roster and under contract to be considered.
Go ahead and put it to a vote Pat
