2.06 WR AJ Jenkins, SF
The 9ers have a talented team and everyone thinks they reached for this guy. My WR scout is not convinced it was a reach. Aldon Smith was out of shape at his rookie camp last year and that worked out ok.

Re: 2.06 WR AJ Jenkins, SF
This is why I love the rookie draft! Bad Dogs traded up to get him... and he wasn't even on my shortlist of players when I originally was scouting this 2.06 pick! Glad you got the guy you wanted! Now we wait to see how they pan out!!

Re: 2.06 WR AJ Jenkins, SF
Actually I didn't know who I was going to draft when I made the trade. Although I liked Jenkins, it was a close call between him and another WR.
I was having roster mgt problems with contract years, and Ingram didn't live up to my high expectations. It's very possible that I made a huge mistake. |

I'm not suggesting Jenkins was a bad pick. I think it's hard to tell which players will pan out. The 49ers seem to be a club who definitely has their act together these days!

That said, I am of the opinion that consistent stud WR's have more value than stud RB's, therefore, if you're guy pans out, this could work out well for you, but it was definitely a high risk trade for you IMO.

Unlikely anyone gives up a 1st for an uproven back, in a crowded backfield, on a team in chaos.....but that's just me....

If I was looking for a young RB I wouldn't have hesitated to toss a 2013 1st to him for Ingram.

I think Opihi would take you up on this trade because he didn't exactly jump on the trade when I proposed it to him.

Re: 2.06 WR AJ Jenkins, SF
Unfortunately I'm not looking for a RB or I would offer that. I have 2 young NE RB's in my stable and 4 on the roster. RB is just not a position I'm looking for right now.

Just because I wouldn't have given up a first... doesn't mean someone else wouldn't have. But I figured it was worth a shot. We'll see how it works out.

Re: 2.06 WR AJ Jenkins, SF
If I find myself looking for a RB I may just offer Jim a 2013 1st, I'll bet he declines. He got a steal for Ingram IMO and is wise enough to know it!

Re: 2.06 WR AJ Jenkins, SF
I wouldn't call a RB with 3 surgeries in 3 years and in a RBBC a steal. A high risk gamble with potential upside is more like it. To realize the potential he has to stay healthy.
