The Centaurs made another move up today to pick runningback Cedric Cobbs with the 1.12 pick. "We really wanted to focus on runningbacks in the early part of this draft," said Coach Skippy.
When asked about the plans for Cobbs, Skippy said "We plan on having Cedric sitting on the dev squad for a year while he learns the ropes behind Corey Dillon. We feel he will be an impact player in a year or so and we couldn't pass him up."
Apparently, Coach Ramirez had let slip that he was going to take Cobbs with the 2.01 pick which is what prompted Coach Skippy to make the move. "We had been targeting Cobbs with the 2.2 pick all along, and we didn't really want to miss out on him like we missed out on Onterrio Smith by one pick last year (to Doggler).
When asked what he thought of Coach Skippy's move, Ramirez only response was "weenie".
