6.13 RB Chris Evans, CIN
As a pastor, I'm a guy who loves 2nd (and 7th) chances. Chris Evans is a RB out of the University of Michigan. And only one of FOUR (yes you read that right) Michigan RBs to have been drafted since 2000 (let that sink in). He had a very productive first 3 years of his career... Started as a slot receiver, then moved to scatback. This versatile back has excellent hands and incredible work ethic. And then he got into academic problems... had to miss a year of football. When a shortened COVID season hit, there weren't a lot of NFL scouts calling his name. Then came the Senior Bowl and his stock suddenly rose. Could he be for Cincy the heir-apparent to Gio Bernard (he'll be wearing Gio's #25 this year!)?! Time will tell. But at the end of the draft, we're willing to take a chance on this kid because of his high character and incredible drive. (Look, I know most of you have probably stopped reading already, and are eager to get this SAC'D draft over so you can prep for FA... but if you want a great read, spend 5 minutes on this. You'll discover that Evans spent his year away from Michigan ball coaching HS special teams... and he runs a flag football LEAGUE that was started for his younger brother, years ago! Just the kind of guy it will be fun to have on the practice squad to cheer for in the years to come.) |

He also works out with a personal trainer that lives down the street from me and Patrick. I played pickleball with him after a workout once.
