"And Down the Stretch They Come..."
Well folks, this is our LAST WEEKEND of the Frenzy new-and-hopefully-improved regular season. Our 6-team playoff starts in week 14.
So, heading into this weekend, here's how the division races & wildcard spots look... East At 9-4, the OPIHI have locked up the division, no matter what they do this weekend... and are still in the running for a first round bye. Central At 9-4, the ATTACK have locked up the division, no matter what they do this weekend... and are still in the running for a first round bye. West Despite sporting the league's best record at 10-3, the LLAMAS still have not clinched their division... as the DIXIE CHUNKS are hot on their tail at 9-4. Both of these teams have qualified for the post-season, no matter what happens this weekend. If the Llamas win, they clinch home field advantage (and those coveted +7 points!). Lose, and we go to tie-breakers to determine seeding. wild-card race Three teams are still in the running for the two remaining wildcard spots... all with 7-6 records going into week 13: INSECTS, SWORDS, and AMISH. One will leave this weekend heartbroken. The other two have an uphill climb to the championship game... but nothing's impossible! Stay tuned... it should be an exciting finish! |

Re: "And Down the Stretch They Come..."
Okay... I've done a little more research...
The LLAMAS have indeed WON THEIR DIVISION (based on their 2-0 record vs. the Chunks this season)... and have locked up the #1 overall seed (they beat both the Opihi & the Attack). So they're guaranteed a bye in week one of the playoffs. If the OPIHI win, they lock in the #2 seed, as they beat the Attack in their head-to-head match-up this season. If the ATTACK win and the Opihi lose, they'll get the #2 seed and the first round bye. The Wild Card Race looks a little clearer, too: The Swords, Amish & Insects all have a 1-1 record against the other opponent. Should all 3 finish this weekend with the same record (win or lose), then we go to total points... and the Amish have 1412.35, the Insects 1490.80, and the Swords 1502.95. So the Amish gotta hope they don't end up in a 3-way tie, or they're going home. If TWO of the teams are tied... we go to the head-to-head game as the tie-breaker. Here's how those games shook down... The SWORDS beat the Insects, but lost to the Amish... The AMISH beat the Swords but lost to the Insects... The INSECTS lost to the Swords, but beat the Amish... The CHUNKS have locked in the #4 seed... as they'll be the highest wild-card. Is that a bit clearer? |

Re: "And Down the Stretch They Come..."
So the Seeding rules weren't changed in Frenzy as they were in SAC'd I take it? In SAC'd, seeding is based on record (via tie breakers) alone, and not whether they are Division winners or Wild Card. So in SAC'd, if both Opihi and Attack were to lose this weekend, and DChunks win, then we would be the #2 seed.

Burt... not sure. I was just going on the previous rules. I'm sure if they were changed, it's posted somewhere.

Re: "And Down the Stretch They Come..."
Burt... looks like no rules were changed in the Frenzy on seeding for the playoffs. Putting my "commish" cap on for a minute, I'd say we should probably go with what's in the books for this year, and then if we want to change it for future years, do so. Might be best to get people's opinions now, before we go into the "off season". Thoughts?

Re: "And Down the Stretch They Come..."
No worries...I got hammered this week anyways..not trying to stir things up....the only reason I bring it up is now that we have a bye week in first round of 'offs for 2 teams, so that counts more than it used to. So I am all for it.

Re: "And Down the Stretch They Come..."
want to make a rules change suggestion in a separate thread & see if we can get a vote on it before people leave for the season?

Re: "And Down the Stretch They Come..."
Well... all 3 of the wild-card teams won... so despite scoring the highest fantasy total in week 12 (164.20 points), the reigning champion AMISH will not have a chance to defend their title.
Updated rankings in above post. Playoffs begin next week! From here on out, all FA pickups can only be signed for a 1 year contract (meaning, just to finish out this season). |
