Def-Green Bay Packers, Royal Hawaiin Opihi, 161 points (2nd), 13 games (t-1st), 12.38 average (2nd). MVP-Priest Holmes wins in a close vote over Rich Gannon. Priest lead all running backs in scoring by a 90 point margin. Gannon lead all QBs by a 60+ point margin, but had McNabb stayed healthy, it would not have been so. Priest needed no help in dominating the league in scoring, and shattering last years' scoring record by 200+ points (though the change in scoring rules had a little to do with that). Rookie of the Year-In an even closer vote, Jeremy Shockey wins ROY honors over Clinton Portis. Both players had much going for them, and each have valid claims to the award. Clinton lead all rookies in points (198.45) and average (24.8). Clinton was the #17 RB in the Feeding Frenzy. However, Shockey was the #5 tight end in total points (83.2) and #4 in average (8.30). Overall, Sam Istician feels that Shockey made a bigger stamp on his position in the Feeding Frenzy than did Portis. This by no way an endorsement that Shockey will have a better career than Portis, as Portis should be a great player for years to come. |

Great stuff as always Brian, although I am a bit confused by the 2nd stat you listed for each player.
The one for games... is that games played? Games they were #1 in their position? I'm confused since I know LT2 played all 14 games. Can you clarify this? Thanks. Mike

Mike, first off, the game played stat is for Feeding Frenzy games played. I did have a typo in my stats, as LaDanian actually played in 13 games (he sat week 8, I beleive the San Diego bye week, and you started Bennett and Dillon by my record). This also means that his average is actually 28.6, for those who care. The "1st" or "t-1st" is basically meaningless in Frenzy games played, but I included it as for the other stats, just as a note of their placement in that category among their position mates for Frenzy games (ie, Gannon, 394.25 points(1st-most QB points in Frenzy games played), 13 games(t-1st-tied for first in Feeding Frenzy games played), 30.3 average(2nd-2nd highest average in Frenzy games played among quarterbacks).
Hope this clears it up! |
