IR question
I think I know the answer, but wanted to double check...
Rookie Deion Cain tore his ACL in preseason. He's going to be out for the year for Indy. I'm thinking about holding on to him as an IR designated player. If I read the rules correctly, I can put him directly on IR... and half of his salary plus however many years I assign him will count towards my TS/DS squad, with one roster year "given back" to me for use. So my question is, next year, when he has to come of IR... I'm assuming I can put him back in the TS/DS without having to make him active, correct? |

Re: IR question
Does this thread set the precedence for this type of action?

Re: IR question
I would agree that still holds true.. The IR is for players on injured onactive roster only

Re: IR question
Okay. Funny that I was the guy who asked the same question 10 years ago! lol
So we could put a rookie on IR... then "demote" him to the TS next year, as long as we take whatever the current cap penalty is that adds to his contract (5cbs/week active - which would amount to a 80cb addition for the next year). Is my math right?! |

Re: IR question
My calculator say 5x14 = 70. So your math is correct if you play 2 playoff games.

Re: IR question
lol... forgot the Frenzy season ends in week 14... and I was going with a 16-game NFL season. Thanks!
Actually... that brings up a good point... do playoff games count for cbs? Don't know if we've ever addressed it. |

Re: IR question
Good point!! I may have a player this year that fits in that category, 14 regular season games and 1 play off game. So we need ruling on this.

Re: IR question
The rules speak to NFL games/weeks. So I would say 17 weeks bump if on Active roster/IR a full year. NFL playoffs should not count since not all teams are playing in playoffs

Re: IR question
I agree thats what the rules say. How does the last para of that section fit into this. It reads "Once a team?s roster has been frozen due to failing to reach the post season, or having been eliminated from the post season, bonus weeks will no longer accrue for activated players until the following regular season begins".

Re: IR question
I missed that part...so that implies if your team makes the playoffs, you have to pay for those weeks you have a playoff game.
I guess what I read means you pay a weeks bonus as soon as one NFL game starts for that week, and your player is active. Now it seems pretty clear.

Re: IR question
Just thought of another situation. What about double headers? Its one week but 2 games. I would think the intent would be this is 2 games played.

Re: IR question
Hmmm... according to the letter of the law, it says "NFL games/weeks"... which is different from Frenzy games/weeks. I'd say it's just 1 week of cbs. But I'll take others' interpretations before a declaratory statement from the commish.

Re: IR question
That rule was written before we started doing double headers...I would say it should be number of games your team played....and a week is official once first NFL game kickoff happens.
Say you activate your player before your double header, and he scores in 2 games for you, then you move him back to TS. He should only get a one game bump?

Re: IR question
Good point. I was only going by what the rule said. Makes sense to change it to Frenzy games.
