IR Cuts???
Did we decide that players cut still within the confines of an IR stint must stay on IR with new owner, or is this a way to circumvent the IR process through cut and acquire/reacquire? Trades are different than cuts.
I would suggest we continue the IR status until fulfilled even though a new owner may not have wanted the player ever to be on IR. The new owner had info available as to the new players previous status. Baldwin cut just brought this to my mind. His case is different as his cut came at a perfect time ending his initial 4 week stint. His acquisition and status will be entirely up to new ownership. Sorry for bringing up an issue that may be a non-issue, if previously resolved.

Re: IR Cuts???
I think this came up a year or 2 ago and Jim ruled that once cut the IR period would only apply if the original team reacquired the player. In the NFL, teams can cut players on IR, and they can play for another team without returning to IR.

Re: IR Cuts???
I'll do some digging on NFL rules...it does not happen often in NFL or Frenzy, but I'll still dig a little...ours is only 4 weeks max and NFL is either 8 or 10 weeks max I think...

Re: IR Cuts???
I honestly don't remember. But Mike's recollection of my ruling sounds like something I would have proposed. If TEAM A puts a player on IR in the Frenzy, for whatever reason (but let's say they were trying to find a way to free up space for a new acquisition), but he's still "playable" on Sundays... and then ultimately cuts him... and TEAM B acquires the player with 3 weeks left on his Frenzy IR stint... why should we punish Team B for Team A's decision?
And Chuck's point about the NFL IR stint being longer is well taken. |
