6.10 LB Tanner Muse, LVR

We almost took Tanner at 5.17 but liked the potential of Lewis just a tad more and didn't want to risk Lewis going off the board in the 9 picks before our last selection of the 2020 draft. We feared Muse wouldn't slide to the end of the draft, but are ecstatic he did.

Muse was a four year starter at Clemson and one of the team Captains. He's versatile and can play Safety and LB, though his best fit in the NFL appears to be an inside LB and and that is where the Raiders intend to play him. He may not start this year, but in a year or 2 may be a FF gem.

Here is what Raider's GM Mike Mayock had to say about Muse:

"I told (Tanner) on a Zoom call that I watched him stick his foot in the ground against A&M and chase down a screen from 30 yards behind him. At that point I knew he played like a Raider," Mayock said. "He impressed me because he played all over the field, then blew people away at 227 pounds he ran a 4.39 40-yard dash at the combine."

Mayock said Muse will be a core special teams player, and will be expected to learn both the Will and Mike linebacker positions.

"While he's getting 25 snaps a game on special teams he will be learning to play linebacker," Mayock said. "He's one of the smartest and intuitive players in this draft so we expect him to learn both positions."

that was awesome. I'm a huge fan of the Haka! Was blown away when we visited the Mauri Cultural Center at night in Rotorua, New Zealand back in 2003. We were "welcomed" with the Haka. Just amazing passion and emotion. Love the Mauri culture!
