Default RFA Tender level/Rookie Bonuses revision proposal

OK, I've let these go for a while, but the time is fast approaching, so I figured I'd better get these out there for people to look over. The following is a revision proposal to two different items. The first is a revised RFA tender scale. As we have discussed over the last year or two, it appears some of the levels may be off. I think just about everyone agrees the WR tenders are too low. I have upped those. I think there are a number of people that also agree that the RB tender level is too low as well. I think that needs to be uppped as well. The following are my proposed changes:

RB

1st-2400, up from 2000

2nd-1600, up from 1300

3rd-800, up from 600

4th-400, up from 300

WR

1st-1800, up from 1300

2nd-1200, up from 800

3rd-600, up from 500

4th-300, up from 200

QB, TE, K, and D RFA tender levels remain unchanged.

Also, the following is a proposed change to the rookie bonus scale, to bring each position in proportion to each other. Basically, this proposal makes any "starter worthy" player elligible for a bonus. By starter worthy, I mean a player who finishes in a position among his peers that would make him a starter in the Frenzy (ie, top 12 quarterbacks since we start 12 weekly). I think this makes logical sense. Thus, the following is the scale.

You'll note I have not adjusted the max salaries for each position. Originally these were in line with the RFA 1st round tender levels. I do not feel these need to be adjusted upwards along with the RFA tender. I feel that, for instance, a running back on his rookie contract who is paid 2000cbs+ is a competitive enough salary, and the limit does not need to go up to 2400, just to keep it in line with the RFAs. If anything, I think the QB max salaries could be ticked down a bit (say to 1000 for 1st rounders).

We should probably vote on these in the near future if we want to implement them this year. I'm open to how people feel about when to implement the revised rookie scale.

I can back this proposal as is. Very well done Brian. I like the uptick for RB's and WR's for the RFA tenders. They seem very appropriate to me.

In general this seems fine but it appears that a WR first round tender in the SAC'd is now equal to the Frenzy. This seems a bit out of whack based on the difference in the size of the salary caps. I agree that it needed to increase to cut down on the large number of supplemental picks out there but is this too much. RB is about 75% in Frenzy versus the SAC'd ($3,200 versus $2,400 for first round tender). Just my two cents...

This is most likely due to the fact that I've looked at and revised (if not always posted) revisions to both scales numerous times this off season. Far too many numbers and spreadsheets filling up my hard drive.

For some reason I was thinking the 1st round tender for WRs in the SAC'D would be over 2000, but looking at the last numbers I posted it appears it was left at 1800. It should be higher than that in SAC'D, probably something like 2300 or 2400. Multi-tasking is not me specialty.

I'm fine with both of these proposals.

In my opinon, 1st round tenders have been taken about 200cb too far - but I'll deal if noone else feels the same way.

Well I think the idea here is to lmit the # of 1st round tenders by making the player tendered really have to be worth it.

I think we'll see far more 2nd round tenders this year, which will result in much less impact on the 2nd round of the draft (where we had 3-4 1st rd comps the last 2 years).

I'm ok with the numbers as is, I'd also be ok at 200 cb less than Brian's proposal, or even 100 less (anything above the last 2 years for RB's and WR's is an improvement IMO).

FTR, with studs like Manning, LT, Harrison, etc. coming off contracts this year, this impacts me more than perhaps others, but I still support the change.
