Default Rules Question

I have a quick question 6B. Taxi Squad. We say that players are credited with $25 with each week on the active roster. However, I would like to put Charles Rogers back on my DS since he is still eligible for one more year. However, I am having trouble with $25 a week thing because he was not on the active roster but for the most part spent the year on the Injured Reserve.

Is the IR the same as the Active Roster in this case? If not can someone help me figure out how many $25 I need to add to Rogers salary to move him back to the Taxi Squad?

Thanks!

Matt,

It would be my interpretation of the new rule that NO existing Active Roster players are eligible to be sent down to the Taxi Squad.

IMO, this rule applies only to current Taxi Squad players (formerly the DS). Once they are promoted, the bonus situation kicks in if they are demoted at a later date.

In the case of Charles Rogers, he was previously on your active roster before being sent to IR (if I recall correctly), and there is no provision in the 2004 rules to move a former DS player back down to the DS (within the same season), it has to happen in the off-season of the following year which begins April 1st, however, our new rules kick in that date and that provision no longer exists.

But just to clarify, would Matt not be able to move Rogers down to the DS (under the current rules) free of charge, and at that point be grandfathered into the new Taxi Squad rules effective 4/1?

No, because it would have to happen in the following off-season (not within the same fiscal year). The new fiscal year begins April 1, as do the new rules. There is no provision to move down a player that hasn't been moved up after April 1 from the TS. It's my opinoin (perhaps I'm wrong), that we should apply the new rules only to existing TS players, and any current Active Roster players must remain that or be cut.

FYI, If you recall, our mucked up DS rules in 2004 stated the following: http://frenzy.predsff.com/2004/Feedi...yRules.html#DS
Quote:
Once promoted to the Active Roster, a player cannot be placed back on the Development Squad by the SAME team during the same season (if the player is traded other teams can place the player on their Development Squad, but the original team CANNOT have on his development squad that year).
With April 1 starting the new season, and thus the new rules, there's no way IMO that Rogers would be eligible to be moved to the Taxi Squad.

Right now (until April 1) we have a DS, correct? So it would seem that the only players who are elligible for the Taxi Squad are those who are currently on the DS, or get drafted.

Right?!

Yes Jim, that is how I interpret the rules.

In the case of Charles Rogers, he can't be moved back to the DS by Matt in the same season (2004), and the 2005 rules do not allow such a move unless the player has been promoted up after April 1st.

Okay, I misunderstood because I was under the impression that this rule would be open to all players that still have eligibility. Not sure that this would have changed my vote but I definately thought that this rule would allow players like Rogers or Melwelde Moore to the old DS (Taxi Squad). However, I can see how this would be an administrative nightmare to re-create who was active and for how long.

BTW, what happens if I trade Rogers to someone else. It used to be that the new team could put the player on the DS (Taxi Squad) is that option still there?

Yeah, I didn't really think that through. I was thinking (erroneously) that after the Frenzy Bowl, it was the off season. Disregard what I said.

If Rogers is traded before March 31st, the receiving team could place him on their DS, but it would have to be done before the deadline.

We are still under the 2004 Rules through March 31st at 11:59am. The 2005 Rules kick in on April 1st at 12:00am.

And yes, it would be an administrative nightmare to track existing acitive roster players and allow them to move down!
