IR rules
Any thoughts on opening up IR sooner for players put on IR by NFL teams. I just had the Hunter Henry situation and just thought it would be nice to get him on IR now and move on. It really may not matter much, but thought I'd throw it out there.

Not a fan of changing...at this moment...unless someone can give me a compelling argument other than freeing up cap space and years to grab another player...there is plenty of time to do all of that at the regular time...

Re: IR rules
I agree with Chuck. I think the intent behind the rule was to give the team some cap space to replace the injured player so that they are not short handed during the season. Seems the timing is meant to wait until a team is full with RFA's, UFA's and Rookies.

Re: IR rules
Well that's the exact reason why I say we should open it up earlier. It puts a team at a huge disadvantage during those particular periods of obtaining new players when you're saddled with the entire salary of a guy who's not going to play the whole year. My current situation isn't that dire because Hunter Henry's salary is not that big but if it were a player that had a fairly High salary and you could gain back some of that salary cap room to try and fill that roster slot during the period when better players are available.

Re: IR rules
I like the idea. NFL allows players to be put on PUP or season ending IR in the pre-season so why shouldn't we? I would probably add that if placed on IR during the pre-season, that player and IR spot are locked for the entire season. So you are essentially left with one IR spot during the season.

Re: IR rules
I think Nate has a decent idea, and I like that he put in that a player pleased on IR during the off-season would be ineligible to play the full season.
I’d suggest Nate put up a poll to vote on and see where it goes. Depending on the wording of the rule I think I would support this. My only concern is verifying who is really out for the year or not. Like, should we limit to specific injuries like torn acl’s and achilles that are well know for season long rehab?

Re: IR rules
That is a great question. I've been looking, found nothing so far.
