Rules info...asking for a friend...
Is there a mechanism within the Frenzy scoring system to add a player position similar to a Flex spot??? You know, so an anonymous owner may possibly at some point maybe start 3 RBs??? Much like an owner can start either 2 TE or 4 WR now...not sure if this has ever been addressed before, but it is now...thank you...once the answer to the mechanism availability is answered, then a poll will be devised along with corresponding possible rule change vote at the appropriate time...

I suggest some discussion before putting up a poll. Although discussion is not required it might make for an easier path.

Re: Rules info...asking for a friend...
Back in the day, RBs were much higher scoring than WRs... so we wanted to limit the number of RBs you could start. WRs have had a bit of a revival in recent years... but we'd probably have to do some research into the data on positional scoring in the Frenzy to see if it's something we should reconsider. Interested in taking that on?

Re: Rules info...asking for a friend...
I’m just gathering initial information right now...if this is possible then we can look more closely at stats...if this position-a possible 3rd RB-is not possible, then no discussion is necessary...sooooo, the Flex position question still stands...

Technically, we have a flex spot. Most typically start a RB at the flex spot. I think what you are asking for is an additional RB spot so that we are required to start 2 RBs.

FWIW, I'm no fan of leagues that allow up to 3 RBs to start with flex options. I think it puts way too much focus on RBs and teams deep with RBs tend to win these leagues more often then not. How many NFL teams do you see sporting 3 RB studs in the backfield? Even 2 stud RBs is relatively rare but does happen when teams have a special player like Kamara who pairs well with a power back. Eckeler may be similar. Sproles was that way, etc. But these are not frequent. Usually if teams are putting 2 RBs in the backfield ones a blocker specialist or Fullback, or they have more of a RBBC. These teams rarely put 3RBs on the field save for possibly short yardage situations. Certainly not an entire game. Ever. At least in the NFL.

Re: Rules info...asking for a friend...
So NOW we are trying to be like the real NFL...all I’m doing is research for down the road...I’m sure owners would re-image their teams if it benefited their chances...we all (I presume) look at scoring systems before we draft and build a team...the question still stands about if it is possible..

Lineup options in Frenzy are anything but broken. I don’t see any reason to “fix” them and allow 3 RB’s to start. And BTW, the entire reason for the Frenzy to be a contract/salary cap League is too be as close to realism as possible (within reason).

Re: Rules info...asking for a friend...
I have proposed nothing...I had an idea and was looking for information...others asked for details and I provided a little more data...rest assured I will not do that in the future...I forgot that we don’t all own this thing...I crossed a line and you reminded me who really wears the crown...I won’t cross that line again...thank you for the evidence for another idea I recently shared...good on you...you never fail to disappoint...

Re: Rules info...asking for a friend...
Mikes opinion is just one opinion. This league operates best when we all feel free to share ideas and opinions. I see no problems with suggesting new ways to score and/or new configurations. I’m always looking to get more of my RBs involved, but I think our system works pretty good as is. Though I’d be interested in what others think!

Re: Rules info...asking for a friend...
While not opposed to idea of adding another required RB, it would change the value of some players. With that in mind if a vote passed, I would recommend a 2-3 year period for it to take effect so that everyone can adjust their strategy in advance.

Re: Rules info...asking for a friend...
I'm not always the visionary some of you are, but I fail to see how this change would cause any change in strategy for teams? NFL teams generally have 1 primary back, sometimes a committee, but usually only 1 who will score the majority of points. In Frenzy, all 32 are taken quickly, and if there is committee, all of those are owned also. Anytime there is injury to main back, the backup is usually already owned, or scooped up for inflated price. Just look at the Malcom Brown bidding war in both Frenzy and SAC'd for good example.
I only looked back on last year, and yes, while the starting RB's tend to score more than most WR's, the backups usually are not that high up in top scorers. So I fail to see exactly how this would change anyone's strategy. RB's are currently a hot commodity, and will remain so. With all the injuries we see every year, I think having the flexibility would be nice.
