Not to be a stickler but I believe that the most you can offer Gaffney is a 2 year deal.

You have used 36 or the 38 years according to the roster app. You may be thinking you can assign Gaffney an extra year because placing Chad Pennington on IR you recieve 1 "temporary" year however I don't know if that extra year can be used in multi-year deals as once Chad is "activated" (although it may never happen this season) that temp year is lost.

the extra year for an IR move can be used however a team wants, however to activate the player on IR they'll have to free up the years to make room since the xtra year will be taken away.
