Favre & Vick sign on to share Pitbulls starting QB rotation

Just three short years ago, Michael Vick was a rising star. Coming off a sterling 2002 season where he finished as the #3 QB overall, Vick was on top of the world and the talk of the NFL. Then disaster struck in the preseason, forcing Vick to recouperate from a devestating broken leg. He made it back by week 9 that year, but the injury was still bothersome. Coaching turnover occured in the 2003-2004 off-season and Vick was faced with learning a new system, the infamous West Coast Offense (WCO). He struggled early on with it, but came on late in the season to finish as the #12 rated QB and took his Falcons to the NFC championship. With a year in the WCO under his belt, Vick appears ready to soar back to the top where he was in 2002, only this go around he'll do it as a Pitbull in the newly formed SAC'D league. On top of that, he'll have a hall of fame mentor in Brett Favre to show him the way.

Favre is possibly entering his final season in the NFL, retirement looms a year or 2 away, but physically and statistically he's anything but finished. Favre was the #6 overall QB in 2004, and #10 in 2003. His offensive weapons are better than ever, and he seems prepared to light up the NFL in his swan song season. Along the way, he'll mentor Michael Vick on the finer parts of QB play, passing along some of his wisdom and greatness along the way, particularly on the finer points of the WCO.

Vick and Favre agreed to terms with the Pitbulls this afternoon just 8 minutes apart. The signings have been ridiculed by many, but the Pitbulls GM thinks he's made a coup.

Are you kidding me, we secured the present and the future in a short 10 minute span. With Willis coming to terms a day ago, and Brett and Michael agreeing today, we feel we've add 3 top notch players to build our core around. Brett will be able to help Michael along in the WCO, really, is there anyone better to mentor him? It helps that they're good friends. They wanted to come as a pair and help the Pitbulls on our road to the championship. This is a great day for us, a great day.

Strong words from an optimistic GM, but is he being truthful? Many within SAC'D have criticised the club for driving up FA prices, and felt the team got caught with its pants down when they landed the duo, but apparently, the club is quite happy with the way things have turned out. At least, that's the way they're playing it!
