Default NFL Supplimental Draft

The NFL Supplimental Draft takes place tomorrow.

Here is a list of players that have declared:

USC defensive end Manuel Wright
Clemson wide receiver Roscoe Crosby
UNLV defensive end Charles Ealy
Texas Tech running back Ivory McCann
Toledo defensive end Jerome Walker.

I assume we will have a supplimental draft for these 5 players. What is the logistics/timing of this?

Just to save you all, the trouble of looking things up on your OWN... here goes:

:Link http://sacd.predsff.com/2005/2005SAC...l#Supplemental
Quote:
C. Supplemental Draft Any player drafted by the NFL (whether rookie or supplemental) must be required to be exposed to a SAC'D rookie draft before being granted outright UFA. Further, SAC'D will implement a blind Supplemental Draft on an as needed basis (i.e. whenever the NFL holds one and a quarterback, running back, wide receiver, tight end, kicker, or defensive player is drafted).

The draft would consist of all interested teams e-mailing a 3rd party or blind source the player(s) they would like to draft, and what round & team's pick (since teams may hold others picks in the next years draft) they're willing to forego the following year to claim said player(s).

The team willing to give up the highest pick would get the player(s), and in the event of a tie (where 2 or more teams submit the same round for any player) we would go by the current years rookie draft order for the picks listed to be forfeited in exchange for the player(s) with the highest pick being the winner.

Any necessary supplemental draft would be scheduled within 3 weeks of the conclusion of the NFL's Supplemental draft for any given year.

1. If a player is selected through the supplemental draft his salary would be based on the pick that was given up for him. If pick 2.5 was the winning pick and the player is a RB his salary will be 520cbs.

2. You can offer any pick in the following years draft as long as you own said pick and specify which pick is being used, if you hold multiple picks in a round. This is what the Texans did to get Hollings (using the Raiders pick).

3. The player if selected through the supplemental draft would be TS/PS eligible.

4. Players that are exposed to the supplemental draft and not selected become UFA's just like players from our regular annual draft.
As for WHEN we will start this, the rules state within 3 weeks of the NFL's Supplimental Draft, so if the NFL's is tommorrow, we'll wrap ours up before August 4th.

The process will be an email to a blind email account. I'll set one up on my server and won't check it till after the cutoff date. The email address to send your pick bids to is SACD@PredsFF.com.

I propose a cutoff date of July 31st (to give teams time to research the players and their situations). Thus, the emails will be reviewed on August 1st at 12:01am or after. Any further questions?

Gee preds. Thanks for the link and the quote from the rules. Hope that made you feel better. But the info I was looking for is the info you added after the quote from the rules.

Silly Skippy, the rules did state within 3 weeks of the NFL's draft! The specifics just weren't worked out per se ;)

so for clarification.

lets say two teams both bid a pick from the same round. which one is the "winner". Is this based on previous years standings? If so, what would we use this year?

I think the precedent has been set to use the rookie draft order.

Okay two quick questions here:

1. When we say rookie draft order it will be based on the order from the first round only correct (since even numbered rounds were inverted)?
2. From the rules it does not seem clear what happens to players that were exposed in the NFL draft but not selected. Are they eligible for our supplemental draft (and thus DS eligible)?

I would think all players eligible for the supplemental draft would be availble, just like a regular non-drafted rookie is ellibile for our rookie draft.

Yes, the supplimental draft will be the inverse of the 1st rd order... so essentially the 2nd rd order

They are treated just like any other undrafted FA would be prior to our normal rookie draft, they still need to be exposed to our supplimental draft before being outright UFAs. If selected in the Supplimental Draft, they are TS/PS eligible (depending on the pick used). After the results of the supplimental draft are made, they then become UFA's and are no longer TS/PS eligible.

That works for me but we probably need to re-word the rules since it seems to mention only players draft in the supplemental draft. One final question (at least for now):

3. If a pick from rounds 5 or 6 is used is that player eligible for the practice squad. The rules seem to indicate that only players selected in the regular draft fit the bill:

"Players can only be placed on the Practice Squad from the annual rookie draft, and only 5th and 6th round selections are eligible for the Practice Squad."

IMO, Supplimental Draft = Rookie Draft. If you use a rd 5 or 6 pick in the Supplimental, your forfeiting the same pick next year, so why shouldn't they be PS eligible.

IMO they should be and are. Keep in mind however, in SACD no more than 2 players per year can be placed on the PS (in the Frenzy it's 1).
