Broncos 1.08 Jay Cutler DEN

It was between Cutler and Young here, went with the team with better options to pass to....

Cutler is one of those come out of nowhere guys who has a good senior bowl, or good combine, and all of a sudden shoots to the top of the draft. I try to stay away from those guys, and would rather take a chance on a guy who produced in a major college program for a number of years. (Not knocking your pick, just saying thanks for Young!)

He led the SEC in passing. He was voted the Associated Press Offensive Player of the Year this past season. He didn't exactly come from no where because of a good Senior bowl. If anyone came out of no where, it was Young. As late as Sept-2005, Mel Kiper had Cutler ranked 3rd, behind Leinhart and Reggie McNeal, not Vince Young. (Although I don't buy into the Kiper hype, so that really doesn't mean much).

I may be wrong, and regret it after a couple of years, but we'll see. Maybe we'll both get lucky and have quality starting QB's for years!!

Do you mean the AP SEC offensive player of the year?

My point is not to get into a pissin' match because I think we are both happy with our selections. Hopefully they both can have a long interdivisional rivalry for many years.

I wouldn't get too worked up. NFL teams spend millions of dollars scouting for the draft, finding out more than we could ever hope to about a player, and their success rate at drafting first round QBs is no more than 50%. Akili Smith anyone?, Cade McNown?
