I'm bored and want to bitch. My local league team is not doing well damnit! Freakin Garcia hasnt done much all year(till last week), my team just cant seem to get it together...........1 week Ricky goes off and Jeff sucks........next week Jeff does ok and Ricky is no where to be found. Not to mention I have NO RB depth........I had to start Barlow for 4 weeks as my Flex (WR/RB) guy. Jimmy Smith has underperformed and I dont even want to start with how sorry Plax and the Pitt def started. At least I see hope.
Luckily some fool dropped Galloway(you know who you are, thanks again) and he's done well(dont you love those broken play 80yd TD scores when your WR has been held scoreless until 4 min left in the 4th!!). Cowher finally got it right and benched Kordell, with Maddox Plaxico is living up to his hype. Pitt still has a favorable schedule and their def may actually be decent the rest of the way. Garcia looks like he's getting more comfortable again and Ricky is still playing hard. I thought he'd do well but had no idea how studly he'd be. 2-4 and still holding onto hope. God I love(hate?) fantasy football. Ah, I feel better. So how are the Fantasy Gods treating you this year? |

Go figure, the leagues I'm in with Sharks I've done very well, but my local league with guppies I've been cursed.
I'm 6-0 in 2 leagues. 1 is an auction dynasty with all FBG sharks run by Skippy the One Eyed Beagle. The other is run is a regular dynasty league by Jim (Hawaii) and only about half the teams seem to have a clue (I took over a mediocre to poor team and have turned things around in 1/2 a season). I'm 4-2 here in the Frenzy, and somewhat fortunate to be that. Not real happy with my team, but dealing with it. What pisses me off is my 2 redraft money leagues which are both 14 team league. I've been screwed in both and sit 3-3 in each. In my local money league I'm 2nd in scoring, but have been cursed by the schedule at least twice, scoring in the top 3 or 4 but losing to the top 1 or 2, however, I was fortunate this past week to get an ugly win. So now the fantasy gods only "owe" me 1 win . Whats really frustrating in that league is my inability to put a streak together, I've won or lost every other week, which means this week I can expect a loss ARRGH! In the other league (1 of Unlucky's Greek Leagues) I've put up top 4-5 points, but again have been screwed by schedules. It's funny how in the leagues I put the most time into I struggle, yet I do better in the ones where I built the teams in the off-season or through rookie drafts.

Well one thing I've learned in the short time I've been playing fantasy football..........the Fantasy Football gods usually even things out. I've been unfortunate with my early schedule but I figure its better to get those agonizing losses out of the way and hope for some lucky match ups later in the year.
You will win some ugly games and lose some frustrating games this year, whether they come at the beggining of the year or the end, it will happen. Have faith if you've been unlucky so far. At least that's what I keep telling myself............ ![]() Now tell me where the justice is in trading Priest Holmes and Brett Favre for Brian "I cant dodge my dog" Griese and David "Bust of the year" Boston. Shouldnt we make a rule against such blatant theivery? I swear at the time it looked good, I know there were reasons why I did it...........I just cant come up with any right now. Not good times. ![]() Hey Undead, if you win the trophy this year can I at least get a picture with it first? |

Funny thing is, I stupidly advised my buddy Brant on that trade. I basically told him who to ask for and what to offer.
That trade is KILLING me in my division. Better yet, his partner (Undead GM Jerramy) HATED the trade and was PISSED at Brant for making it (shows you just how much Jerramy knows !!!).I think Mr. Jerramy can look no further than my very own Predators to know who to thank for their present success. And yes Joe, WERE you thinking!!! I loved that deal, wish I could have made it myself but I wasn't looking that way at the time, so I foolishly helped a guppie friend... aarghhh

Well, I'm only in two real leagues (counting this one), and I'm 4-2 in both. I've had the same results for each team each week, lost both games week one, both teams won the next 4 in a row, then both lost week 6.
My local league (I can't say if they are sharks or guppies, but since I haven't won it ever, I guess that makes me a guppy, so call them what you will), I love my roster, but I'm 8th in the league in points. The schedule has been my friend so far. I just traded for Eddie George to be my #3 (behind McAllister and Martin). My receivers are balanced in Rod Smith, Plax, Chambers, Keyshawn, D Jax (no all stars, but someone will get points every week, I just haven't picked right so far). Thats the opposite of this league where I think my current roster is a sham, but I'm doing very well in points. Maybe my judgement of my rosters says something about me. Anyhoo, the FF gods always even things out with me as well. The cruel thing is that they always do so in the same season. If I start out hot, I suck in the 2nd half (meaning if I get to the playoffs, I'm one and done). Or else I suck in the first half until I'm out of contention, only to catch fire and kick arse in the second half. Well, since I'm a combined 8-4 so far, I guess that means I'll be looking at a bunch of losses coming up. |

Well, I belong to 2 leagues including this one and you guys see how I'm doing here, DAMNIT!!! In the other league, I have a easy schedule and Drew Bledsoe to carry me to a 5-1 record (my RB is Curtis Martin, cay you believe that?). Also, I'm the fool that dropped Galloway that Joe (the loser) was speaking of. I was actually glad I didn't have him in my lineup, if I didn't have would have lost a couple more games. Instead of playing him, I picked up Driver and started him instead-not bad huh?
With regards to FF Gods, they love me at the beginning of the season in my local league but hate me in the playoffs. It's been like that the last couple of yrs. I do hope to turn my team around in this league, I just not need my players to get hurt when I actually start them in the games. Let me bitch a little bit here-first Warner goes down, cost me a game, score was close. Then Vick goes down, again if I remember correctly score was close. Then just last week, Chamber goes down and I lost by 8 or 9 pts. Hope the Gods favor me in this league soon. |

Well...
Since my domination in thsi league is well known, I'm glad to let you know I am doing the same in my money league. Have a record of 4-2 but that is a bit sucky cause I am the highest scoring team in the league. Oh well. I don't want to speak to soon.... but I have Ricky Williams in my money league too and he is just tearing it up. Solid as a rock. I bet it'll be tough to keep him after this year. But I guess that's the life of back to back League Champions!

Holmes and Favre meant we had a better chance to win this year, but that meant I had to do some desparate things to try to get them support (like Isaac Bruce for $1800, trading next year's 1 for an extra high pick this year). Otherwise, the rest of my roster was so flat I didn't think Favre and Holmes would be enough to really get us beyond .500. As for dropping Galloway, pity the poor fool who dropped him 48 hours before Rocket Ismail got his neck injury! (But you won't see me bad-mouthing Brant for advising me to pick up Jacquez Green, no sir!) |

Well, lets not judge this trade after only 1/2 a season. Lets revisit this in 2006 and see who's laughing then........

I am in two real leagues (a third with 32 teams started off the FBG's board does not count in my mind). My local league which I have won two years in a row has been tough. I am second in the league in scoring and lost one game when my opponent had the Chargers D playing the Texans. My opponent scored 120% of what had been the record for defensive scoring and I can't imagine that this new record will ever be broken. Both teams started at 1-3 and are starting to put it together. I have very strong line-up in my local league and if I can get some good match-ups and injuries don't strike I have an outside shot at the three-peat.
This league has been tough, since yet again my WR's have been weak. Kind of wishing I knew about Bledsoe to the Bills before I cut Moulds! At least I can field a semi-respectable team and maybe increase on last years five wins. Plus with at least 3 of the first 24 picks hopefully I can add some decent talent to replace some of these guys that might be too expensive to resign when their contracts expire. As for the Boston trade I was really impressed and was very high on him as well. Then the reports about the leg/ankle and some kind of legal trouble came out. I didn't protect him in my local league and after Week 1 thought I made a big mistake, now it looks like a half decent move. Oh, well with a lot of games left to play it should be interesting to see how it all works out! Last edited by Philadelphia Freedom; October 19th, 2002 at 09:30 AM. |
