I thought you had to have cap space to acquire a player, then you can move them to IR,
the pick up of Stewart puts Burners over cap, if he is allowed to move him down to IR, then he is good, if not, then the Stewart acquisition is null |

I think he's fine. IMO it's no different than exceeding the years or 18 player limit caps. We have acquisitions that put us over all the time and allow 24 hours to make adjustments to get under.
In this case, the adjustment just happens to be by placing the acquired player on IR and cutting his cap hit in half, thereby falling under the cap. It's a legal move IMO.
